80's jam of the day: "Head Over Heels," Tears for Fears

Don't sleep. This is one of those tight lil' 80's ballads.
Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

Props will be withheld until the showing and proving has commenced. -- Aaron McGruder

I was just about to mention this in the "why you hate a song" thread. I don't actually mind this song (like it heaps more than "shout"), but when we were kids, my sister and I used to go thru all our teen mags and colour their faces in because for some reason these two guys gave us the creeps.

One of my favorite New Wave tracks ever. I'd like to cover this song one day.
NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

I wish I had the video version or radio edit version where the ending DOES NOT segue into another song.

That's the problem with the album version, but ironcially "Head Over Heels" is why I keep that album in my collection.

I used to not like Tears for Fears because they used to say bad stuff about Duran Duran (silly stuff I read in Star Hits), so I would try to avoid their music. Then I heard this song and that changed my mind. "Don't take my heart, don't break my heart, don't don't don't throw it away." Since then I've let my walls down.
"Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!
"It's just my imagination, once again running away with me."

this is my 2nd all-time favorite song from Tears For Fears, followng The Badman's Song on the Sewing The Seeds Of Love album..

like many people, I like the

"la lala la la..
LA LA LA LA la
la la.. la la.. LA LA"
refrain repeated in the last 3rd of the song!

a true "pop classic".
I'll see you tonight..
in ALL MY DREAMS..

omfg They said bad stuff about Duran Duran? pissed

Well, they had good tunes anyway, But Duran Duran is better. hmph!

lol

Seriously though, I really dug the use of their music in Donnie Darko. Notorious by Duran Duran was also in that movie, go figure. Anyway, this might be my favorite song by Tears For Fears. Or that other one that goes, "My features form with the change in the weather... we can... we can work it out."

Yes, and augmented with bonus tracks. As have The Hurting and The Seeds Of Love.

GREAT pick! This was one of my favorite songs from childhood.

Strangely, the video seemed to come on almost every morning as I was getting dressed for middle school, so it'll forever be engrained as a sort of early word of advise for living.

It is such a beautiful melody, and the words hold such truth. Through love and infatuations, pining for a certain past and anticipating a yet unforeseen future, I think the point of the song is summarized in the last line: "One little boy; one little man. Funny how time flies." Life will totally pass you by while you're wasting all your time merely pondering it instead of truly living... At least that's what I got out of it.

These guys are VERY underrated songwriters.
Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου
μηδὲν ὅλως σὺ λυποῦ
πρὸς ὀλίγον ἐστὶ τὸ ζῆν
τὸ τέλος ὁ χρόνος ἀπαιτεῖ.”

LOVE that song! I never call it by its title though; I always refer to it as "The Library Song" (becuz of the video).
btw, does anyone else think that one of those guys looks like Jerry Seinfeld or is it just me?

Definately one of the best hits of the 80's, along with their other hit ~Sowing The Seeds Of Love~.
