bowie the past 2 nights!

i am so ridiculously psyched up for this show! i keep hoping he'll perform rock n'roll with you or something equally as obscure. has he performed that at all during this tour?

nope, they'll be no sleep for me tonight!

oh my goodness!

david bowie rocked my pussy! the show was great. the venue was perfect...not a bad seat in the house (and i say that from the thrid to last row of the mezzanine). bowie's personality and energy are just amazing for a 60 year old! and he is so damn sexy! i am still daling with the excitement of gina flying up from miami to see this show with me...and she decided she wanted to see tonight's show as well. so now we have 10th row seats for this show, tonight! very exciting...hopefully, he'll do a different set. here's the list from last night (not in order and i may miss some):
rebel rebel
new killer star
cactus
the man who sold the world
all the young dudes
hallo spaceboy
white light white heat
hang onto yourself
( may have dreamed this?)
changes
heathen
i'm afraid of americans
china girl
suffragette city
ziggy stardust
life on mars
ashes to ashes
fame
heroes
under pressure
pablo picasso
the lonliest guy
fall dog bombs the moon
reality

i feel like i'm forgetting some songs but i'm sure someone will help me out...and maybe even provide them in their right order! lol.

i wonder what he'll do tonite!?!

ugh, we had the exact same problem at the MPLS show...the guys behind me would not shut-up about people standing and dancing. Of course they expected me to sit down and not see (or have fun) and yell at the people in front of me to sit down...the bastids!

sounds like an awesome show, though!

YAAAY!!!

It was again another wonderful show. At first, I wasn't crazy about our seats but then once the show started, they were actually perfect. They were close but way off to the side, but you could see everything that way. Bowie was in a really playful mood throughout. A highlight was "Battle
For Britain" for sure. He asked who knew the album Earthling and only a few people cheered. I was one of them. And he pointed in our direction and said, "Well this is for the seven of you then." biggrin

I really wanted to go tonight too. The terrible weather here in Detroit is the reason I didn't. I decided to try to get home to avoid it. We did wait afterwards and Bowie said a quick hello to the 50 or so people waiting. It was too cold to sign or chat, but he came out to wave wearing a black ball cap and glasses. Very cool.

Anyone who's considered going to this tour, I urge you to do so. He's in top form and you won't be disappointed, even if you're only a casual fan or a newbie. He's very welcoming and humorous with his audience. He makes you feel like you're in on something special and also very informal. I love that.

A final note. One moment that absolutely stunned me was during "The Man Who Sold The World". He accidentally knocked over his mic stand during one of the instrumental breaks. He sat down and began a motion as if he was rowing a boat with the stand. Then he put his hand on his brow like he was looking for something or someone far off in the distance. It really added to the isolation and loneliness of the song. He took a simple mistake and turned it into a grand moment of theatre. And the audience loved it! Such a professional.

Anxiety

What can I say but OH WOW!!!

It goes without saying that Bowie was wonderful, but Macy Gray and her band were also top notch (even if her set was a bit on the short side and the audience wasn't really feelin her that much).

I went to the show with a pretty good idea of what we were in for - I've been keeping up with the set lists from previous shows on the tour, and I've seen loads of pictures from the tour on Bowienet - but I've gotta say, being there and hearing that beautiful, unique soaring voice live and in the flesh - not on record, not even from a LIVE record - is unlike anything else. Nothing could prepare me for that experience...and it wasn't even my first Bowie concert. I walked in feeling like an old hand at what to expect from a live Bowie show, and walked out feelin' schooled all over again.

What Tron said was right on - Bowie's stage presence was so unaffected, informal and welcoming - yet just by virtue of who he is, his presence was at the same time so regal and stately, and so much larger than life.

And the band was fantastic - I'm a big fan of Mike Garson, who's been with Bowie on and off as his keyboardist since way back in the Ziggy Stardust days - and it was a pleasure to hear him play. Gail Ann Dorsey is always amazing to watch on bass - she sang the Freddie Mercury part on "Under Pressure" which truly does justice to the original...not to mention she's an intense bass player, and gorgeous to boot.

The set design concept was mostly unobtrusive, but had kind of a cartoony-surrealist approach. The show started with a short cartoon of the band a la Gorillaz, after which they came on stage in silouhette in front of the projections. After that, it was all about the music, with some incidental animations going on in the background (and a very silly dancing beagle puppet during Fall Dog Bombs The Moon).

I would love to go to one of the other shows this week, but I had to pull teeth to get last night off from work, so I'll just have to appreciate what I enjoyed last night, which is more than enough to keep me happy for a very long time.

If anyone has a chance to check out this tour, I can't recommend it enough.

When I saw the setlists, I didn't think it was a good idea for him to do Under Pressure. seemed kind of disrespectful to do it without Freddie, or not in his honor (like at a big event, like the FM tribute concert).

When I saw it, I changed my mind. Perhaps it's selfshiness on my part, because it's always been one of my favorites. But anyway, I was so happy when it started. And by the end, he had made me totally his bitch. Cry cry cry... touched

Other special moments for me: Life On Mars? and Heroes. I wasn't thrilled with the new arrangement of Heroes at first, but by halfway through, it had me emotional. Of all the songs he did that I'd already seen him do once or twice, these are the 2 that still had a lot of resonance for me. Oh, and he pulled a Let's Dance/Modern Love with China Girl too... got me to LOVE a song that I thought was only so-so previously, even though I'd already seen him do it before.

But the one that was the most special, after Under Pressure, was Five Years. thank you David. kiss2

i just came from this show! ok, its over...i'm done. stick a fork in me..or david bowie's dick! god damn he is sexy!

the show was absolutely phenomenal! i was in the 10th row, in the middle section right by the aisle. i was dancing in that aisle all night long! the song selection was incredible tonight. fashion. always crashing the same car. motherfucking Panic in detroit! oh man, i was in heaven...not to mention the cute boy sitting just diagonal from me about 3 up! and no matter how often i hear life on mars or afraid of americans, i just love it each time!

i am so glad gina talked me into going to this 2nd show. he performed like the crowd was his bitch. if the first show worked my pussy, this show tore it out. i had to have the security people bring me a mop and bucket.

the man's voice has only become stronger and more in shape. he has the most dramatic sound. his humour was great. i've never seen bowie joke around quite so much. he was really enjoying chicago.

now, i just wish i was going to the friday night show!
