While we're on the subject of EW&F.... What would be your favorite album by them?
For me, it would have to be either Gratitude (their live set) or All N' All.

For years,I have always considered 'All N All' to be my favorite Earth Wind and Fire album. The songs are funky, eclectic and very experimental ("Fantasy",for example, didn't sound like anything else they had ever done). It's clear that the band's trips to places like Egypt and Brazil really inspired them to make some of the strongest, most vibrant music of their career.
However,in recent years,I've grown extremely fond of 'I Am',and it's the Earth Wind and Fire CD that I find myself listening to the most, these days.As somebody mentioned on another thread, the entire Side 1 contains the best opening tracks of ANY EW&F CD.Just yesterday,I played the song "You And I" about a hundred times...lol... But let's face it,picking a favorite EW&F CD is very difficult.ALL of their 70s albums are top-notch.

That's The Way Of The World...with All N All being a close second. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

I'm curious, what do you guys think of the first two EW&F albums...
***Earth Wind and Fire (1971) ***The Need Of Love (1972) This was a completely different line-up,and Philip Bailey wasn't even in the group at this point. But those albums are pretty good, consisting of long, jazzy jams.A must-have for any 70s funk fan.

I've heard some excerpts from Earth Wind and Fire, but haven't really given it a full listen. The earliest album I have by them is Last Days and Time where "Mom" and "Where Have All The Flowers Gone" are my favorite tracks.

'Last Days and Time' is the third EW&F album, but it's the first album with the legendary line-up including Philip Bailey. There are some great moments here (I love the ballad "I'd Rather Have You"),but compared to what came later, this wasn't one of their strongest efforts.

But this is my favorite EWF album cover! Spirit hey Debbie,I was just listening to the 'Spirit' album yesterday! This album is SO underrated, probably because it was released between the two classic EW&F albums 'TTWOTW' and 'All N All'.But 'Spirit' contains some of their best work."Getaway" is a funk lover's heaven, while "Imagination" is just gorgeous.
