Is Spearkerboxxx/The Love Below the greatest double album

Im currently in love with this cd, it took me a few listens to dig the love below, but wow, this cd is banging!

I would say its the best double album since SOTT and certainly a lot better than everything prince has done since then!

It really made me want to scream at prince to get his act together and spend a decent amount of time recording his next cd!

I'd agree with part one and disagree with pt. two (see Lovesexy and The Gold Experience).

I don't know about the "greatest" double album. Especially when you've had stuff like Gratitude, The White Album, London Calling, Exile on Main St., and of course, Sign O' The Times. It is a great album with and origianl concept and goal in the hip-hop game, nevertheless.

Before rushing to judgment, you'll want to check out this video from another noteworthy album -- Saddamboxx/The Love Below:

It's not the greatest double album since SOTT, and I'll tell you why. Big Boi cannot really carry a whole album by himself without Dre. Speakboxx has some interesting moments, but as a whole, it's not something I'd listen to on purpose. The Love Below will be hailed as a classic in years to come regardless of what you fools here wanna say about it.

I pretty much agree with Sumtymes's post. Its got a couple of cool jams but not as praiseworthy as the press is making it out to be. A lot of cool artists popped up this past year, but went unrecognized (as usual). If not for that annoying, Toni Basil-sounding "Hey Ya"with that 80s drum beat, Outkast would have been in the shadows as well.

I don't think it should count as a double album. If both guys did both CD's together, then it would count. But it's more like a package than anything else, one CD per artist.

While I really love the album I don't think it would have been as good as the two artists doing a CD (hell, two CDs!) together. My favorite songs on both discs tend to be when they are together. Still, I haven't heard it in quite a while so maybe I'll give it another chance. I think it would be overated if so much music this year wasn't crap. It certaintly was one of the better albums of last year.

There was good music in 2003. Maybe you missed it.

Splain Lucy! The one that that really struck me that this was a bad year for music was David Bowie's "Reality". Last year "Heathen" was my favorite album and this one was so...blah! Still, while I barely listen to it, it's one of my favorites of last year becuase there was so little new stuff I ended up buying (and I hardly think I missed anything great).

Best 2lp since SOTT is All Eyes On Me(Pac), but of course its an opinion. Also I wouldnt but it in the same class of Lovesexy Gold or TRC. To me its only advantage is it being 2 disc long, but I like none the less. I think it really gets a lot of recognition because of the horrible state that music is in 2 day, which would make it more enjoyable.

I hope you mean "Of 2003" If so, u can stop reading, it doesnt apply to u.. if u think its the "Greatest".. then

Not only are u downgrading the people that inspired that half ass act, but u have no sense of music that once put them where they currently stand.. I dig outkast, but this is going way too far.

see, this is exactly what happens when someone with real talent gains success in a world where Britney Spears is one of the best selling female artists. They deserve credit, but not praise.

If more of the people with real talent got the same attention that jokes like G-Unit or Britney Spears got y'all wouldn't be trippin over them so much

so, in my book, it's not the "greatest" anything

I think it's real damn hard to put out a double album that isn't at least 50% filler, and Outkast deserves credit for putting out two solid discs of good music. I don't know if I'd call it one of the "greatest" double albums just yet, though I can't think of any from the past few years that hold a light to it. In general? Yeah. White Album, SOTT, Sandanista!, probably some others that aren't coming to mind off the toppa my head at the moment...but it's definitely a proud achievement that they've put out that much solid music in one product and people are excited about it to the extent that it's become the mainstream success that it is.

it's really hard to compare double albums now, and around the time of SOTT because albums are so much LONGER now. Released today, SOTT would be on one disc. Same with most double albums in history. And alof of albums released these days... for instance, Scarlet's Walk by Tori Amos... would have to have been a double album 15 years ago. So it's apples and oranges.

That being said... what double albums have come out since SOTT? There can't be many if any more original and fun than Spearkerboxxx/The Love Below
