Neneh Cherry What's the news on her? Is she still doing the music thing or has she been relegated to the international scene. I've been listening to Homebrew and Man and "7 Seconds" inspired me to create this thread. Post your thoughts on Neneh.

I think she's the megastar that never happened. "Homebrew" was brilliant, and "Man" was a really strong album too. I think the fact that she was a woman making really challenging, textured pop music rather than just playing the generic diva role threw people for a loop - she wasn't easily pidgeonholed and unfortunately she remains underappreciated due to that fact.

Neneh is the predecessor to Nelly Furtado, Res and Kelis. I listen to these contemporary artists nowadays and I immediately think of Neneh Cherry. She was so ahead of the curve when she released her first three LPs. "Homebrew" still sounds as fresh and inventive as the day it was recorded. "Man" is an underappreciated gem. Neneh's art makes me appreciate life and music. Sometimes when I feel music can't amount to sh*t, Neneh helps me to appreciate the artistry of musical expression. "7 Seconds" on repeat is simulated heaven.

Neneh still performs. Yes, she's "International" now, which is a shame. You can still find goodies on her.She and Tricky almost did an album together. They recorded maybe 5 or 6 tracks. Non-Linear Reality

This year a new compilation by Rip Rig & Panic will be released. That was Neneh's old group also with former Pop Group guitarist, Gareth Sager. I heard they were married too. Anyways, if you wanna hear Neneh's old work before she hit it big in the 80's, and if you're a fan of Post-Punk, funk or dub, check this group out. Of course. "Save Tonight" was the jam back in '98. And then he couldn't seem to keep up his success, so he moved back to Scandinavia and produced more music there. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

I came across this info from a fansite - http://www.buddyx.com/New...h_news.htm
"The release date of the fourth album of Neneh Cherry has been set for the 12th of January, 2004! The information surfaced on German website 'Filmstarts'. This information has not been confirmed by Neneh's management. Stay tuned for more details. [Thanks to our foreign correspondent Benjamin]. - Oct 1st" I couldnt find anymore info to confirm this, but maybe its enough to get your mouth watering for now. Seems to be a decent amount of info on that site though. Loved the cover of "Sweet Child O Mine" featured on the Akasha "Cinematique" album. She has done some great collaborations over the years. Hope my post is of some help .. Amy [This message was edited Sun Jan 11 18:34:57 PST 2004 by speak2amy]
