*shudders* That movie was worse than Glitter! She sang (I use "sang" loosely) Madonna's "Open Your Heart".
'Cause your friends don't dance, and if they don't dance... well, they're no friends of mine.

That movie was hilarious (well, unintentionally). Britney is valedictorian of her high school (!) with aspirations to attend medical school (!!), but first she wants to see the world (natch). Girl power ensues. Lots of yelling "wooohooo!!!" out of car windows (a staple of "girl finds out who she is" movies - see Blue Crush also). Britney also frolics with Generic Hot Guy played by an actor named Anson Mount (porn star moniker or what?) whom she thinks may have a "bad past" (ie. he murdered some people in cold blood), but that doesn't stop her from doing him. Along the way she also "writes" a "song" (that awful "Not A Girl" tripe) and Generic Hot Guy proves his love by giving it some music.

And I've never seen anyone look more mentally retarded in a movie than Britney does here. Mariah kind of looks like an empty cow in Glitter, but Britney trumps her in the stupidity department.

I never even saw this movie for it's unintentional humour. I just don't think they get more intentionally funny than "Glitter" and I will ignore anyone that says otherwise! I have yet to see a movie that I know will suck just for this reason. Can't top "Glitter"!

And "Crossroads" made a few bucks (or came close to breaking even). What does that say about America? Now I do hate America!

I almost want to see this movie now.

The thing that was really terrible about "Glitter" (besides just about everything) was that the story moved along so quickly. It was like point a, point b, point 3 (they got so messed up that they started using numbers!). It had a very unatural flow. In Mariah's defense, no one could have made that trite work! They never even tried to devlop a story there. It was just too much and very stiff and unnatural. My favorite is when you comes out of her dressing room, finds out her annoying ass boyfriend got killed (I think people that I saw this with laughed and cheered at this point) and then she gets up on stage to sing a sappy ballad. Who approved this movie?

Mariah's ego approved it, of course.

There are several great parts:

1. They both write the exact same song at the exact same time but in different places (telepathy?)
2. The music video director: "She eees not white, she eees not black, she eees exotic. I want to see more of her breasts!"
3. Any/all of Mariah's hairstyles/clothes/facial expressions (and there are a whopping 2 of those - surprised and stunned).
4. The fact that the boyfriend could have JUST PAID THE GUY BACK considering how much money he was making, instead of being stubborn and getting himself shot in the process.
5. She ages 20 years, but her ginger cat doesn't.

Too many to list, really.

Don't forget that the pretty, popular friend is engaged to the guy who raped and got the pregnant trailer trash girl pregnant; who later has a miscarriage running away from him when the pretty popular girl goes to see him once they're in L.A.

and you can't forget that completely realistic fight by the car...lol

Yeah, that was GENUINELY boring. At least the others were of the "so-bad-it's-good" variety.

That's what I saw too. "The Next Best Thing" was just blah (or to be extermly kind, very average) while "Glitter" would make a logical person want to rip out there hair (or wig, in the case of..Cleo?).
