Are there songs that hurt too much to listen to?

There are songs which I adore, but cannot listen to because they absolutely break my heart.

What are some of these for you?

For me, off the top of my head:

"Mary Magdelene," Meshell
"Air of December," Edie Brickell
"Night Vision," Suzanne Vega
"Two Hot Girls," Carly Simon

πρὸς ὀλίγον ἐστὶ τὸ ζῆν
τὸ τέλος ὁ χρόνος ἀπαιτεῖ.”

Sometimes It Snows In April used to make me cry every time I heard it. I recently split up with this girl I really cared about and I made myself listen to it though and it really helped. For some reason that song by Train "Drops Of Jupiter" gets me too. Not sure why but...

Anything really depressing. Dave Navarro's bootleg "Unicorns and Rainbows" is the most depressing shit I've ever heard in my life..for that reason I can't listen to it much.

Sade's "By Your Side" breaks my heart to listen to. It's my ex-boyfriend's favorite song, and all of the words sum up how I feel about him.
'Cause your friends don't dance, and if they don't dance... well, they're no friends of mine.

I have to try to NOT bawl when I listen to
"I Never Dreamed You'd Leave In Summer" by Stevie Wonder.

Yall ever see that part in Poetic Justice where Justice (Janet Jackson) puts on this record and ends up crying? I get a similar reaction.

Big shout to "The Beautiful Ones" as well.

"Where Are You Now?" by Janet and
"Night Flight" by Led Zep which sum up a particular person and time which makes me very nostaligic and wondering what might have happened if things were different.

no song has ever touched me like that. i mean, in a way that i don't want to listen to it again. if a song truly impresses me then i can't leave it for what it is. i've got to keep spinning it over and over and over..

Many songs by Bob Dylan just about kill me. There are just too many to list, but I will give a few examples:

If you see her say hello
Till I fell in love with you
Simple twist of fate
You're a big girl now

I could probably list 100 more, but...

Dylan rules as far as song writing goes!!
