What, what, WHAT!? How can anyone forget Teddy? Every now and again I check the net in search of a killer compilation. Still lookin'. 
I didn't remember that song's title but those lyrics did come to mind. Thanks for posting them. What else came to mind was this record he sang on as part of the Philadelphia All Stars: "Let's Clean Up the Ghetto." Now, there's a cut I haven't heard in over 20 years! It must be pretty rare. | |

Uptown Deb,I too am looking for a good Teddy Pendergrass compilation.But everytime I find one,there's always at least one or two crucial songs that are missing
But you can't go wrong with his 1978 album 'Life Is A Song Worth Singing'.It contains "When Somebody Loves You Back" and the mega-hit "Close The Door". | |

I got that song on a Philadelphia International Records compilation CD!, its a cool track  , as 4 Teddy Pendergrass compilation CDs...there is 1 called 'Turn Off The Lights...Best Of' which is cool. U should also get Harold Melvin & The Bluenotes greatest CDs cuz Teddy was lead vocalist for the band b4 he did a solo career.
1 of my fave Teddy songs is 'Whole Town's Laughin' @ Me' - great track
