Who remembers this Teddy Pendergrass song ("Talkin bout a 50/50 love...yeah")

"When Somebody Loves You Back"

(written by Gamble and Huff,1978)

It's so good lovin' somebody
and that somebody loves you back

To be loved and be loved in return
it's the only thing that my heart desires
Just appreciate the little things I do
Oh,you're the one who's got me inspired
keep on liftin',liftin me higher

So good,it's so good lovin somebody
and that somebody loves you back
It's so good needin' somebody
and somebody needs you back

We can build a world of love,a life of joy
make our goal each other's happiness
I will do for you anything that I can
Oh,everyday I wanna do a little more
do a little more, just a little bit more

It's so good,good,lovin' somebody
and that somebody loves you back
and that's a fact
It's so good wantin' somebody
and somebody wants you back

Said it's so good

Oh..ho...

To be loved and be loved in return
it's the only thing that my heart desires
just appreciate the little things I do
Oh,you're the one who's got me inspired
keep on liftin,liftin' me higher

It's so good lovin' somebody
and that somebody loves you back
and that's a fact
It's so good needin' somebody
and that somebody needs you back

Said now 70/30
Now 60/40
talkin' about a 50/50 love

Said it's so good lovin' somebody
and that somebody loves you back...yeah

Said now 70/30
Now 60/40
Talkin' bout a 50/50 love,yeah

What, what, WHAT!? How can anyone forget Teddy? Every now and again I check the net in search of a killer compilation. Still lookin'. sad

I didn't remember that song's title but those lyrics did come to mind. Thanks for posting them.

What else came to mind was this record he sang on as part of the Philadelphia All Stars: "Let's Clean Up the Ghetto." Now, there's a cut I haven't heard in over 20 years! It must be pretty rare.

Uptown Deb,I too am looking for a good Teddy Pendergrass compilation. But everytime I find one, there's always at least one or two crucial songs that are missing sad

But you can't go wrong with his 1978 album 'Life Is A Song Worth Singing'.It contains "When Somebody Loves You Back" and the mega-hit "Close The Door".

You're right on, with the comps. There's always a crucial cut missing.

Close the Door is hot! I love the part where he goes, "Come here woman!"

I got that song on a Philadelphia International Records compilation CD!, its a cool track smile, as 4 Teddy Pendergrass compilation CDs...there is 1 called 'Turn Off The Lights...Best Of' which is cool. U should also get Harold Melvin & The Bluenotes greatest CDs cuz Teddy was lead vocalist for the band b4 he did a solo career.

1 of my fave Teddy songs is 'Whole Town's Laughin' @ Me' - great track smile

Teddy P thumbs up!
