Madonna "Crazy For You" I'm creating this thread for the purpose of praising this song--after all these years and Maddonna transformations, it is still one of my favorite Madonna songs... Let the rain come down...17 days....

For some reason, alot of people (even fans) dismiss this song.I guess they think it's just pop fluff, but I like it alot. It's a sincere little pop ballad.Did you ever see the movie "Vision Quest"? Madonna appears in the film, singing this song and "Gambler" during a nightclub scene. It's kinda funny the way "Crazy For You" pops up in the film over and over, and they keep playing the same part...

Crazy for you and Holiday are still 2 of my favorites from Madonna... The day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom - Anais Nin

"touch me once and you KNOW it's true" the version in the movie also sounds a little different...when she sings the choris...the "Crazy For you" part sounds more falsetto (I think that's the right term)...don't you think? Let the rain come down...17 days....

Yeah, the version in the movie must be an early demo version. It's not as "glossy" as the version that became a single.

I never thought much of "Crazy For You". Not by any means a favorite but it is a nice pop song. I always prefered the dance rocker "Gambler" and wish it were a single.

i remember it getting some airplay in the U.S. but yeah I don't think it was officially a single...I sort of remember it was played around the time they started playing "Sidewalk Talk" even though that was recorded a lot earlier in the 80s but didn't get airplay until 1985. I definitely feel that "Crazy For You" is essential Madonna.
Glad that Immaculate Collection didn't leave it off like other 1985-era singles ("Dress You Up", "Angel").

Crazy for You is a beautiful song. When I think of great songs from the 80s, this is one of the first that comes to mind.

Glad that Immaculate Collection didn't leave it off like other 1985-era singles ("Dress You Up", "Angel"). And of course "Who's That Girl" and "Causing A Commutation", both from the WTG soundtrack and Number One and Two sinlges on the charts! Thank God for the "Holiday Collection", which just made the album more complete.

I am not a huge Madonna fan, but I have always loved this song. I also like "take a bow" (i think that's the correct title).

Doesn't it seem like the singles left off of "Immaculate Collection" have been forgotten as footnotes in Madonna history though? "Immaculate Collection" is the compilation most people have and seems to be considered the Madonna bible for her 80s hits, but it excludes "Who's That Girl" (which was the #1 out of the two WTG singles right?).

Holiday Collection
(from http://www.allmusic.com/c...n8b5z4nsq4) 1. Holiday (Hudson/Stevens) - 6:09 2. True Blue (Bray/Madonna) - 4:17 3. Who's That Girl (Leonard/Madonna) - 3:58 4. Causing a Commotion (Bray/Madonna) - 4:06 This European import was released as a companion EP to Madonna's wildly successful 1990 hits package The Immaculate Collection, and even boasts matching cover and CD artwork. It's a short EP, with only four tracks, one being the full-length original version of "Holiday," which appeared in an edited and remixed form on The Immaculate Collection. Three seminal Madonna hits are included that were not, for one reason or another, on The Immaculate Collection. "True Blue," a Top Five hit in the U.S. and the title track from one of her most successful albums, is here, as with both hits from the film Who's That Girl: the chart-topping title track and its number two follow-up, "Causing a Commotion." All three of these songs are included in their original, definitive versions. This collection would have been the ultimate part two had it included the other hits left off the Immaculate Collection: "Angel," "Dress You Up," "Oh Father," "Keep It Together," "Everybody," and "Burning Up," but then that would be quite a lot to ask. There are no liner notes included, but there are some nifty photos. If anything, this Holiday Collection makes for a good stocking stuffer. — Jose Promis

The Holiday Collection tries to reconcile the exclusion of those chart-toppers from The Immaculate Collection, but still managed to leave out other crucial singles. Maybe we need another companion EP to the campanion EP.. "The Angel Collection" Would have been cool to have Q-Sound 3-dimensional stereo mixes (as presented on Immaculate), of all the excluded singles, on a second volume. 01. Everybody 02. Physical Attraction 03. Burning Up 04. Angel 05. Dress You Up 06. Gambler 07. True Blue 08. White Heat 09. Who's That Girl 10. Causing A Commotion 11. Keep It Together 12. Oh Father Note my exclusion of 1990's "Hanky Panky"

Swaying room as the music starts
Strangers making the most of the darkkk Two by two their bodies become oneee HAHA... That's a last chance-slow dance record. Great record for couples skating at roller rinks. One of my favorite Madonna slow songs. "Someting To Remember" is one of my favorite albums by her.

"Immaculate Collection" is the compilation most people have and seems to be considered the Madonna bible for her 80s hits, but it excludes "Who's That Girl" (which was the #1 out of the two WTG singles right?). As you must have read from the AMG review, yes "Who's That Girl" was a number one and really was a very cute pop song. At the time, I just loved that song but my family really didn't use their record player (a crime if there ever was one altough my mom did buy several major eighties albums that remain unopened including "Thriller", Whitney's second and the first by Culture Club) so I never bought the album back then. And the AMG review says that "The Holiday Collection" has all the songs as they appear on the albums but that is kind of untrue. If anyone has both the WTG soundtrack and "Holiday...", listen to "Causing A Commutation" and you'll notice a slight difference in the fact that there appear to be more keyboards that create a very catchy sound in "The Holiday Collection" verison while the album/soundtrack verison kind of ends with a thud. It just sounds like it was mixed better while the other one sounds a little more like a demo. Cinister could probably describe it better than I could if he has heard it. I also believe "The Holiday Collection" verison In short, "Holiday" verison is better and I think the one that was played on radio.

I've never been a fan of her pop ballads. i think the only one i like is take a bow...oh, and rain and live to tell. but i think that's it. i love her slow songs that don't sound so pop-ish, though.

How about "Oh Father" and "This Used to Be My Playground" (which seems to be tied for first with "Who's That Girl" as Madonna's least known number 1 single)?

I'm not that fond of her "I Want You" but it's good. I prefer "You'll See", which was the best way (well, besides "Evita") to put an end the Adult Contemperary/Easy Listening Madonna era that lasted for a few years. I never understood why the sultry remix of "Love Don't Live Here..." wasn't on the album and they opted for the original LAV verison. The best song off the album is "This Used to Be My Playground", which thankfully finally got a showcase here but I would have prefered the long verison.
