To answer the question, no. There are some that really tear me up, but not to the point that I can't or don't want to hear them.

I ordered that CD after Isten wrote a thread about that song making him cry. No song has ever done that to me, and I wanted to hear it. As he guessed, not understanding German was a big barrier to having a similar experience. Good song, tho. wink

i will listen to every song again ,but "pyramid song" by radiohead stops me in my tracks."the hounds of winter" used to make me cry because I perceive the lyrics in a way that they are about her when she died.Well,I actually may not listen to that one again.

When I first say that, I thoguht it was the slow song off her "Fabulous" album (her only whole album I have besides "The Lover In Me" and the very tiny and now out of print "Best Of Sheena Easton"). Now that song I was thinking about, "You Never Gave Me The Chance", is very sad.

Yeah, understanding German is kind of essential for that
song.

It's just so intense for me because it's not uplifting
at all and yet it sounds so hopefull at the same time.

The hoarse voice keeps pondering life and wether there
is something better to look forward to.

The beautiful voice then proclaims that the only good
things he knows are the illusions he built for himself
and that although he strives for a better world, there
will in fact be none.

I mostly dislike german songs but on this song, the
german vocals work brilliantly.

I listened to it again last night after a long long time
of not having played it and although it didn't have the
same effect on me again, it did give me goosebumps.

I Know It's Over - Jeff Buckley

I couldn't listen to the original version by The Smiths..god it used to kill me.

If you see her say hello on the Bootleg series by Dylan can kill me too...and oddly enough Jeff covered that as well on the Live in SinE release.

Those two in particular were painful...ooh I can think of one more. Hearing D7 by Nirvana after not really listening to them for a couple of years made me cry in the middle of an internet cafe because it was so great and I just about forgot how much I loved them and it made me reaally sad at the same time.

Nope. Radiohead's music just fits my own character too
perfectly for me to ever hurt listening to it.

It's deep, depressing, bleak, and murky. Surprisingly,
that's what makes me feel good.

Plus, I never share any radiohead songs with partners,
so that none of them get stained when you break-up

[the songs, not the partners].

This one doesn’t get me, but “Yvette in English,” which has always been my favorite off of Turbulent Indigo, does in the last couple years.

Cranberries' entire first album, "Everybody else is doing it so why can't we". I used to stick it in my walkman back in '96 or '97, when I was walking the dog... it was a difficult time in my life, and I haven't moved an inch from where I was then. Still the same reason, too. sigh

There are many songs that really tear me up but one that is incredibly painful listening is pretty obscure ~

Crossroads by Don McClean. It is so emotionally baring and intense. I always thought it may be a cover but never searched it out. Does anyone know?

"A Song For You" by Donny Hathaway. It just sounds so depressing...especially the part when he sings "And when my life is over..." It just makes you realize that this was a genius gone much too soon. cry

"Air of December," Edie Brickell
"Night Vision," Suzanne Vega
"Two Hot Girls," Carly Simon
