"These Sounds (Swirling Through My Mind)"---now I know where that sample comes from!

What a trip.I was just listening to my 5-CD Chicago box set and I came upon the track "Street Player",which is from 1979.It's probably the only song from Chicago that could be considered disco.Anyway, the second line of the song is...

"these sounds swirling through my mind"

A-ha! Several years ago (mid-90s),there was a big dance track called "These Sounds (Swirling Through My Mind)" by an act called The Bucketheads.I always thought it sounded like an old disco track, but I never knew if it was a sample or not.Mystery solved.

btw,the Chicago song is GREAT! I had never heard it before but now i'm hooked. The same song was recorded by Rufus and Chaka Khan in 1978,but I prefer the Chicago version for some reason.

I'm fine,thanks.Great to hear from you again,Fhunkin!

It's amazing to think that Peter Cetera (Chicago's lead singer) would be featured on a mid-90s dance track.I used to hear that song in the clubs all the time, never knowing it was him!

That was just what I was thinkin, I was wondering whether it was him...I recall the vocals sounded kind of female
but then again he had a high voice !
Good to hear your well wink

lol well then I'm gonna ask you this...

I remember another dance track from several years ago. It's a woman singing, and the chorus goes...

"If this ain't love...why does it feel so good?"

this track sounds like late-70s disco, especially the guitar riff.Is it a sample from an obscure 70s disco track?

We could start a whole new thread about this...

Hear it?? I'm sure it's somewhere in your crates already! came out around 2000-2001.You'd love it cause it's very late 70s-sounding.

Kenny Dope got his ass SUED for not clearing the Chicago sample. He said he learned his lesson lol

cop

Apparently "These Sounds (Swirling..)" was put on the b-side of one of the Bucketheads' singles to try and stay under the (sampling) radar.

It was just a throw-away B-side but it picked up loads of airplay in the UK & Europe. I don't think he got sued but I think he really had to bend over for Chicago! I'd be surprised if he made a penny from it. Must be why MAW went and remixed Spice Girls.

Still, doens't excuse Lil' Louis Vega for remixing Julio Iglesias.

Good ear, David!

Actually, if you had posed this question, I could have helped you as well. Out of curiosity, I researched this one a while back...
