n.e.r.d.!!! I was just cleaning a little and I put on my headphonez and wired myself to my mp3 player.I looked for something I hadn't listened to in a minute and set up N.E.R.D..I checked out the demo version of "stay together" and forgot how cool and funny this song is!!Then, the released album version of "tape you" came on and it was over!!I started dancing around the place and breakdancing!!Dayum!!All by myself and having a freaking ball!!Now,as I type,"truth or dare" ,from the album, with Kelis is playing!!Kelis is cool as hell. This woman is sexy and I want her in my ear a lot!!!NERD is the bomb!!!I hear they have a new cd coming soon, too!!The Neptunes rule!!! That is one fine album. I burned myself out on it SO bad from playing it every damn day...maybe it's finally time for me to take it out of mothballs for a while.

the bootleg version doesnt compare 1 bit with the released live versions (finished product). They were even better in concert Straight Jacket Funk Affair

I have the European version and the American version (with the live instruments). The American version is off the hook.

do you prefer the 1st or 2nd version of the album?

I like the second version. That's the one that came out here in America. The first version was more mechanical sounding. I think the live instrument in the mix really makes the album funkier.

hopefully this album won't be hyped. the first record wasn't either. they'll probably blow this shit up like everything that's been released by the neptunes lately though. 'in search of' is definitely the shit. hope 'fly or die' will be as unpredictable. i heard they're even throwing some jazz in the mix on this next one.. don't need no reefer, don't need cocaine
purple music does the same to my brain i'm high, so high

The first version. Just because it has the signature Neptunes sound all over it with the beat machines and what not.

I absolutey LOVE this band and I haven't loved a band in a long while. Not since the Smashing Pumpkins in my high school days. I was able to see n.e.r.d. live over the summer and that just made me love them all the more. i cannot wait until Fly or Die comes out in march, right near my birthday, too.

Did any1 DIG that jazzy interlude after "Bobby James" that was the jam. Unfortunatley that version is longer on the bootleg one though. Straight Jacket Funk Affair

yeah, the released version is light years ahead of the unreleased one.that was the blueprint or the rough sketch.spymob really brought the thing to life.funny, too because I had downloaded all the unreleased stuff first and loved it.I was worried about the album sucking the life outta the songs.I was so wrong!!The live instrumentation adds sparkle. The only exceptions being "run to the sun",which I love both versions and "stay together".I like the demo version better. It's funny and funkier. It reminds me a little of old Basehead songs.Basehead was cool, too. Definitely the second version. I had the opportunity to hear the first version, and it sounds mechanical and sterile compared to the live, funky feel of the band release. Great project!

I'm confused about this first version and second version thing. Which version can you buy in stores regularly?

the first version only came out by legit-means in france (as far as i know). it came out as an album, so it really was not a demo. they scrapped that release and went back into the studio w/the "rock group they discovered," Spymob and re-recorded the whole thing. this became the 2nd version, which was then released everywhere else. i heard they redid the album because popular hip hop magazines here in the states ripped the initial version apart...basically because it was so far from what their previous projects promised. so instead of "marketing" it to the blingbling commercial hip hop crowd, as was originally planned, they added live instrumentation to it and...ta da. a classic LP was created. that ended up taking off, by word-of-mouth. -peaceternal

I know that the original version (the European one) was available as an import here in the US (hiphopsite; sandboxautomatic; etc.) for a while but it's pretty much out of print now. some vinyl singles containing some of the European versions of songs were also available at some point as white labels in the US. damn, rock .
i wish i still had my other copy of Lazy K for ya. the difference between Play W/Toys is not that much. it first came out on a real small label, and had some samples on it, that they couldn't clear on the 2nd version. it has the same songs on both. just some dif samples used. - there is also a single w/remixes for 'Do You Wanna Fuck?' >>> the joint of the moment: Diverse- 'Explosive' (ft. rjd2 & lyrics born <<<
