Whatever happened to Total?

I used to love their music when they were popular, though the lead singer's voice sounded like a dying cat. Even so, I thought they were great.

About a year or so ago, there was a rumor that they had re-formed.Similarly,the girls in SWV are said to be back together, recording new tracks. My guess is that both groups have re-formed but are having trouble finding new record deals.

I liked them! I thought they had potential.

I'd also like to add Exscape and Jade to the "whatever happened to" list.

I loved them, too! In fact, I was listening to Jade's "Don't Walk Away" a few days ago! I loved the early-mid 90s R&B.

Total's real jam was the simply-stated, Raphael Saadiq-produced "Kissing You".

Total were cool, had pretty voices. I liked Xscape and SWV too, but it's inevitable that those vocal groups split I guess...

I liked Jade. I heard that they broke up because they weren't really making any money. A couple months ago I dusted off their second disc and listened to "Every Day of The Week". Remember when that song was played constantly on radio? They came to a small club in Columbus back in '93 and put on a nice show. They were very sweet girls.

I hope Kiesha,Pam and Kima got some singing lessons while they were away because those girls could not sing.I saw them live twice before they broke up and both performances were horrible.Tight jams though but I don't know if I'd pay to see them live again. Now Jade could sing.I saw them sing on Video Soul on BET when they're second album came out.I have "Jade To The Max" and they're second album.SWV was cool too even when it was just Coko singing most of the time.Taj can sing a lil bit.I don't know what Lele sounds like.I can deal with Jade and SWV coming back out.

I have all the Total and SWV albums - love these trios!

I like the remix of "What About Us?" with the loop from Malcolm Mclaren "Hobo Scratch". It's on their second album. The original was on the Soul Food soundtrack.

Brownstone were great. Isn't it funny how this thread went from talking about a non-singin' 90's group like Total to good 90's groups like Brownstone and Jade?? lol

Really? Which album? I only have Total's big singles ("Trippin" and "What About Us?") on CD but listen to them often. Always wanted to get something of theirs but just never had the time. I'm sure their CDs probably go for pennies on Ebay.
