the orgs opinion on inxs?

Hi

Last month I've been kinda on a nostalgia trip back into the 80's. Mostly INXS and Billy Idol (I know prince was the man in the 80's but since i listen to him all the time he's not part of this). Anyways, since especially in the us inxs is widely underapreciated i was wondering what y'all think of these guys who I think have created a lot of interesting and original music that is still paasing the test of time.

so what does the org think?

Welcome to Wherever You Are is probably my favorite. I loved INXS and was so upset when Michael died. For me, it was one of those times that you remember everything about the moment you found out. So sad. But yeah, a great group of musicians and performers!

I love their music with Michael Hutchence more than I like Prince's music. They're the only ones I like more.

I remember when they tagged a second "mini-video" on to the end of their "main" video, and thinking how cool that was.

I have moreorless everything INXS has ever done!! I am a huge fan of them, even more so when Michael Hutchence was alive!! Him and Prince were total Sex Gods 2 me!!!
I was totally shell shocked when I heard that Michael had died!!

The thing is I have one or 2 rare tracks from them on my MP3 Players playlist that I downloaded from WinMX, but I really wish they had more rare stuff!! I am almost positive that their catalogue is more extensive than just their commercial releases!!

Can anyone help me in this???

Since the release of their first album in 1980, INXS' sound has been a consistent melange of rock based genre that borrows freely from Soul and Dance.

They continue to be by far one of my favorite bands of all time. Fav albums are Welcome to Wherever U R, Live Baby Live, Kick & Elegantly Wasted, which was released 6 months prior to Michael's untimely Death.

INXS' music did lose it's unique approach when Michael was replaced with Jon Stevens, but regardless their music will always be remembered.

Great, great band. Loved most everything they did. Especially 'Shabooh Shoobah'.

nod that was cool. I'm a very casual fan of INXS. I like all of their singles but I have never bought an album.

BIG Inxs fan. I seen them four months to the DAY before Michael died. I was right in the second row and witnessed one of the greatest shows I've ever seen. Micheal just had it. I seen them in the summer of 2002 and their singer at the time was great, but of course not even close to Michael. There was a part of the show where they played Never Tear Us Apart and showed video clips of Michael, I actually cried. After the show, my neices and I met them and they invited us to go have a drink with them. They are the coolest people and they couldn't have been any nicer to us.
Welcome to Wherever you are and Elegantly Wasted are SO underrated. And Michael's solo release has some good stuff too, just listen to "Slide Away" and try not to lose it.

Buy the way, if you haven't picked up the Live Baby Live DVD go get it YESTERDAY!!! It's amazing and the extras are worth the price of the DVD alone.

INXS were one of the finest and hardest working bands to come out of Australia. I love their early stuff like "INXS", "Underneath The Colors" and "Shabooh Shoobah". You can find their first 2 albums and some other stuff on this new comp called "Stay Young: The Deluxe Years 1979-1982". They're so cool. I miss Michael, but I hope that this new singer, Jon Stevens can be the heir to the throne. I missed them in NYC back in 2002. sad

Anyways, INXS was and still is that cool New Wave band from down under. big grin

Or a poor man's Jim Morrison.
Original Sin is alright though and Kick is a eighties classic.

From the first album until the last album (with Michael), I still keep finding new and cool things about their music. That's my definition of good art.

Michael definately new the art of 'being' a 'Rock Star', giving people what they needed as apposed 2 what they wanted.

I loved the way he played up 2 peoples expectations

thumbs up!
