Jet-Are You Gonna Be My Girl

I really really like this tune...but they ripped the hell out of My Generation by The Who
"Climb in my fur."

A friend of a friend is in this band. My husband says "hey what an aussie sound!" to which I exclaimed sounds like old brit rock to me. Maybe this is what I am thinking of too?

Don't think I've heard it.
Hell, today was the first
time I heard "Milkshake" by Kelis
...damn, that song is weak.

Tells you how much I've been listening to mainstream radio.
This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

I think they're a bunch of retro rock bandwagon jumpers. There's nothing new or exciting about that kind of sound. It's been done before and better.

I like it, but there are so many more retro-rock type bands out now that do it so much better, like The Strokes, The White Stripes, and The Hives.
'Cause your friends don't dance, and if they don't dance... well, they're no friends of mine.

I agree with you Velvet Roper, but even of those three bands you mentioned who do it better, the White Stripes are the only ones with some originality, balls and tunes.

"Jet" are terrible. They bring nothing new to the table, nor are they the saviours of Rock n Roll. and that song has just xperienced overkill too. It's funny how rock n rollers don't give a fuck, don't conform to society, and yet this song turns up in the Apple iPod commercials. It all boils down to money, and these pathetic weasles bow to it, no matter how much they tell u they are not "pop"

I agree. The White Stripes, to me, are the only really good bands like that. I was just saying that all of the others are better than Jet.

Another typical example of radio and tv playing a cool tune
to absolute non-resuscitation death.

At least over here in Holland. For the pas few months they
played the song on every station I turned on at least once
every hour.

And yet, it's still a nice tune to hear smile
and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

fun song, but nothing special. I've tried to get into the cd, but it's kinna boring. Besides, I already have The Strokes, I don;t need another of those bands right now.

Great song, it's very simple & does rock but too much radio play over killed it 4 me. The CD has a few good tracks on it. It does have the old brit rock sound to it but only few bands can get away with it, Jet is one of them.

i love the Get Born album. I think it's a great rock album. I don't listen to the radio much, so i guess i'm not burnt out on the single. I didn't even know what the single was when i first heard the album - i listened to it at a listening station at Tower Records.
