I will never get to see Michael Jackson live in concert

My bropthers got to se him and his brothers on the Triumph tour way back when...and by the time I could have the oppurtunity, I was already a Princehead. Didnt care to see him not even th e Victory fiasco. Damn. Then in 93 after th e first scandal he appeared weak and medicated and a slew of ailments came forth. He also quit his European tour becasue of all the mess etc

Then the History project looked like he may have had some ommph left to do a tour Fast forward ten years later and here he is so frail and medicated and semingly "out of it"

but on that YOu Rock My World vid it shows him being ablke to move nornmally and not so damn delicate like a china doll...but still

Invincible was not a blockbuster so he wouldnt tour with that (doesnt he know touring helps boost sales etc) and th e interview shows him once again out of it...

I dont think he will ever play live again..all the in between years cancelled shows etc..that birthday anniversary thing too yeah but hardly worthy of merit...

ah well..Ive always thought his shows from vids and tapes looke d cheesy but everyone knows when you see someone live and not on tv live its a whole damn different experience...

I had th e chance in 88 for the Bad tour but opted to see Lovesexy the same weekeend...ahh well

I would have loved to be in th e audience when Billy Jean begins etc...

Thats the tour that was broadcast on shellevison (sigmund). Did he at least sing ? I thought being there would be more spectacular etc...

Honestly,I was a fan of Mike's since I was a kid.As he got older,I started leaving him, though.Prince was my main squeeze anyway. I had seen footage of his shows and was never impressed with the presentation or band.I did, however, want to go to a show just because of the excitement and energy of the people there.I wanted to feel that.

I've been to many Prince shows, but I never got to a Purple Rain show. That must;ve been something.I also would've loved to have gone to a James Brown show during his peak.Listening to his live at the Appolo series of cd's,you just know that was the bomb!

I've been a fan of MJ since I was a kid. I seen the Victory tour and the Bad tour, he was truely amazing. My brother and sister also went to Truimph and that's the tour that I actually really wanted to see, I wore the live album from that tour OUT! I was a total Prince head too and would have chosen Lovesexy over Bad, you did the right thing nod

MrLovesexy

He's not a real tour kinda fella. Should have gave something more in the form of tours/concerts 2 his "American fan" base years ago. I always felt he could have done something had he had that "Live Tour" gene in his body like Prince does...can U say hardest working man?

Not just M.J. alot of new cats, hot acts and top acts just truly aren't much of a live act. maybe some have it ok or good but hate the touring grind...

4 someone whos said 2 B Mr. Entertainer, and one of the greatest live performers, if not 1# In many minds, (not this one) I say... he's not brought the goods as far as I'm concerned. not like Prince has done. M.J. showing up doing award shows & performing is one thing...doing these mega one of akind music videos is another thing...but bottom line, he just ain't putting out year after year gig after gig like singers/groups who always stay faithful 2 the cause, who truly love the cuase...

And they feel greatful enough 2 the fans 2 tour. And yes I do know thats the major way artist get there $$$ But let's B honest...if your going 2 remain in top form, can bring a level of excellence like no other, if anything even getting better as he's getting older...4 the years of output and genius & one of akind multi-talented skills as a true overall musical force...Prince earned it and deserves it.

If U go 2 any other country you'll have the best chance 2 see M.J. Live, that is if he feels like it.

Food 4 thought: Look what Prince was able 2 do say during the Purple Rain era... in terms of staying almost a week in each city. Just think what M.J. could have have done 4 2 solid years with Thriller???

But somebody had a better idea...coughing, The Victory Tour*

I saw the Bad, Dangerous and History tours. Bad @ Wembley was by far the best, 100% live, a man at the peak of his powers.

There was definately a decline in the last two tours, but i got to see him at his best, and that's how i'll remember him.

Having said that, the 25 minute live segment with his brothers at his MSG concerts in 2001 were pretty awesome too.I think he can still turn it on if he wants to.

mike lipsynching history:

bad tour:
-first leg was all live;
-second leg was partially live, about 90% (smooth criminal and the last 2 songs of the show were lipsynched).

dangerous tour:
this show must've been 50% live and 50% lipsynched (he DID sing my favorites live: o.a. startin' something', billie jean, working day and night).

history tour:
well, this was a horrible tour. you bought an opportunity to SEE mike and nothing more. 99% lipsynch. only the jackson 5 medley, the "i love you"'s and "how are you doing"'s were live. the rest was all tape. pretty ridiculous for the kind of money you had to pay (i did see him more than once on this tour, hoping i would get a LIVEshow. doh!).
don't need no reefer, don't need cocaine
purple music does the same to my brain
i'm high, so high

Saw Bad & Dangerous. Bad was really amazing, choreography & live. Dangerous already showed him declining, but where were the Dangerous songs?

History... well... must have been quite awful.

He doesn't like touring, thats for sure.

Bad tour remains the best for overall quality of live vocals. He'd given up by the end of the Dangerous tour and his throat caused him to mime a lot more than the beginning. He's notorious for saying he hates touring. I only ever saw the HIStory tour live myself, but I enjoyed it cos I was in the front row. Seeing videotapes of that tour is rally depressing though because it's so crap;

That was my favorite Michael Jackson tour. That was the Dangerous Tour, right? I don't care if he mimed the show. The performance of Smooth Criminal was worth the price of admission! Crazy or not, that man can perform!

I got to see Mike waaay back in the day when I was about 6. It was when the whole family was doing the show. Janet was in her little pink boa doing her Mae West impression.lol The show was awesome to my 6yr old brain. The best part about it was that we actually saw them in the car on the freeway on the way to the show. It was at the Circle Star theater. Me and my cousin were in the back seat playing in the window (this was way before the seat-belt laws ya'll). Anyway, we see this car next to us full of huge afros. It was the Jackson brothers! We had a fit!!! Me and my cousin were jumping up and down in the car.lol I remember Jackie and Tito waving at us and laughing. But Mike just looked at us and kind of rolled his eyes. The craziest thing about is that I keep remembering them being in a blue station wagon. My mom always insists that it was a Limo. hmmm That was crazy though.

I have a similar story. . .I was all over Michael Jackson's 12-year old ass like white on rice. Dude was gonna be MY HUSBAND, I knew it 'cuz I prayed every night for it (yeah, me and most of the lil' black gurls in the USA). Anyway, I was all of nine years old. My godmother got me tickets to see the Jackson Five at the Michigan State Fair here in Detroit and I had front row seats. When they came on stage, I was so much in shock I could not MOVE! All these girls around me were screaming their heads off and I couldn't make a word come outta my mouth. Anyway, right before their last song (which I think was ABC), my godmother whisks me off BACKSTAGE so that I could see all five of them walk right past me within two feet after the show. I will NEVER forget that experience. But the BAD part was, no one believed me when I went to school the next day. . .you know how kidz are. . .

i Think in terms of entertainment the history tour was the best, with all those stage props and the lighting and the space suit thingey!

Although a lot of it was backing tape, mj did sing live on these songs

1 Wanna be Startin Something
2 I want u back
3 Abc
4 Love you Save
5 Ill be There
6 You are not Alone, partly live, some shows he did more live, some shows hardly any!
7 Billie Jean, 50% live
8 Beat It partly live
9 Heal The World

Songs totally backing tape

1 Scream
2 TDCAU
3 Stranger in Moscow, imo, he coulda done this live easy
4 Smooth Criminal
5 Dangerous (THese 3 understandable considering the dancing involved!
6 Blood on the Dancefloor
7 Thriller
8 Earth Song
9 History

Im melancholy now...earlier they played I'll Be There on the radio tonight..(92.3 knows how to get you home right)..and I was thinking of how I'll Be There is on the live album from 82( Jacksons Live)..yeah Everlasting Now I wore that one out too and thank god I have it on cd now...but I remember they'd do the up and down thing when they sang the chorus part..I've seen clips on how they do this on MTWN 25 etc etc...The Triumph tour was THE show..was THE epitome of pop/rnb concert. I remember seeing a 20/20 segment on this show--seems like it was frenzied and kablam yet most of america didnt know about it because Michael Jackson wasn't Thriller MJ as of yet. Lawd if he and his brothers just did some sort of small set or VH-1 type of deal. But its all too late for any of that to ever happen damn...this should have been taken into consideration in the mid 90's imo. Oh well...MJ had bigger fish to fry I guess. I guess Im wishing that I had seen "The Jacksons" live now.
