MADONNA Erotica - different versions?

I realized my copy of Erotica (that originated from BMG Music Club) doesn't have an "Explcit Lyrics" label on it.

But I SWEAR, in 1992, our family didn't buy this because it had a warning on it rolleyes anyway...

So, did I get an edited clean version or what?

Here's MY tracklist..
01 Erotica
02 Fever
03 Bye Bye Baby
04 Deeper And Deeper
05 Where Life Begins
06 Bad Girl
07 Waiting
08 Thief Of Hearts
09 Words
10 Rain
11 Why's It So Hard
12 In This Life
13 Secret Garden

Any key nastiness I should be listening for? lol

She says "you fucked it up" at the end of Bye Bye Baby, but that's bleeped even on the explicit version.

She says "bitch" quite a few times in Thief Of Hearts...not sure if they'll bleep that.

Other than that, the album is sexually explicit without actually being explicit. I've heard that there's not much of a difference between the clean version and the uncut one.

BTW, you have the 13-track version. There is a 14-track version with "Did You Do It?" added to the tracklisting. It's not a good song, but it is on the explicit version I believe. There's some profanity in that.

Right! I thought I was missing a track here! ("Did You Do It")

I'd really like to get an uncut version with that 14th song!

Thanks, VoicesCarry for coming through with the precise answer I was prompting for! smile

How come nobody likes the song "Did You Do It?" lol

I find it to be a guilty pleasure, and it fits perfectly on this album.

"Did you do it? I said I did it...Did you do it? Yo Mark,I said I did it"

It's essentially just "Waiting" with a rap, I guess. I just find it...unnecessary.

It's funny. lol

I kinda see it as the other side of Waiting, like the guy's side of the story.

I like the album better without "Did You Do It". It adds nothing and 13 tracks is just a better number.

The albums are identical other than the inclusion of that song. No swearing or innuendo is changed between the 2 versions. Just that stupid song is added. You're not missing anything whatsoever.

Hmmm, waitaminnit...wasn't this a b-side track on one of the singles? If not, duz anyone know the song I'm thinking of? It's just kind of a pointless, long, housey droney track with Madge mumbling stuff every now and then (I know, I know, doesn't really narrow it down...)?

Up Down Suite.

it was a dub mix of the a track called "Goodbye To Innocence." the dub was on the "Rain" single in 1993, and "Goodbye To Innocence" turned up on the Just Say Roe compilation in 1994.

I had the ammended verison and then decided to the get the uncut one just for that song and it wasn't worth it at all. I would say just stick to the one you have. Other than the "You fucked it up" part in "Bye, Bye Baby" and the terrible "Did You Do It?", which is by far the worst Madonna remix ever (I wouldn't consider it an original track).

Her worst official remix would have to be "Rain (Radio Remix)". They took a beautiful track and fucked it up. If they had just sent the original to radio, I'm sure it would have been a much bigger hit.

Erotica is my favorite Madge album, and it never occurred to me that I might have had the "clean" version when I bought it back in the day...I might actually be inspired to seek out the version with the extra track, because that era of Madonna is one that I always wish would come back - so brassy and irreverent and fun...

Do you have "Goodbye To Innocence"? If not, get it. It's great! Much better than the track you're missing.

you do not want it. it is the music from "Waiting" with a guy rapping over it. he sounds like Vanilla Ice with a potty mouth. except i don't think he even swears. it's just talking about fucking Madonna, i think.

just download the long version of This Used To Be My Playground, the extended Bad Girl, and Goodbye To Innocence to put on there instead. the dirty version of Erotica from the Sex book is neat too. actually makes the song live up to its title.

I have heard "Goodbye to Innocence" and only think it was Ok. Anyway, I much prefer the sort of extended verison of the song titled "Up Down Suite" altough I noticed some people don't. I would seek the "Rain Ep", a rather affordable import that may or may not be out of print.

It's still available on Amazon.com. It's the only place to find the video edit of "Rain", as well.
