"I Want Destiny...!"

Without a doubt, Destiny is my favorite Jackson's album, and no.2 on my all-time MJ list with Off The Wall being first!

I know a lot of people consider Triumph to be the best Jackson lp, but songs like "Walk Right Now", "Everybody", "Your Ways", and "Wondering Who" just don't do it for me... disbelief Destiny is complete...the only weak track being "All Night Dancin'"

I remember when this album first came out! headbang Twenty-five years later it still kicks my ass. Even the artwork and gritty photography...well... giggle the last lp featuring a surgically UNenhanced MJ. sigh Those were the days...

The funky rhythm guitar work of Tito on "Shake Your Body (down to The ground)", the a capella breakdown on "Blame it On The Boogie" the climactic ending on the title track, the passionate vocals (lead and background) by Michael on "That's What You Get (For Being Polite) and "Push Me Away", the pure funk of "Things I Do For You"...what's NOT to love about this album?

Any other thoughts...? whistling

No WAY! That's one of my favourites. If I had to pick a track that could possibly at any stretch of the imagination be considered "weak" it would be Things I Do For You.

Right now my favourite track is definitely Bless His Soul though. Totally relevent right now too.

I want Destiny too. Although right now I don't remember that much about either Destiny or Triumph (therefore, I can't give an opinion about which one is better), I used to own both on vinyl as a kid. I remember loving 'em both.

Destiny (1978), Triumph (1980) and Victory (1984). Was this supposed to be some sort of trilogy? Did they put out any other albums in between?

I would choose Triumph over Destiny simply because of "Can You Feel It." It's definitely one of my all time favorite Jacksons cuts.

I love the song, but it's the worst one on the lp. That's what makes this lp so great...even the weak song rocks!

OTW (1979), Live(1981), Thriller (1982)...

"Can You Feel It" is cool and all, but that one song hardly makes up for the rest of the Triumph lp. I've always LOVED "Heartbreak Hotel", " Lovely One", "Give It Up" and "Time Waits For No One". It's the other songs mentioned in the first post that bring the Triumph lp below Destiny.

I love the video. They're all larger than life and sprinkling glittery love dust, or something, all over everyone and everything. This song is so full of hope. Like the Isley's "Harvest For the World." When people think about feel good songs, something like "We Are the World" comes up. "CYFI" should be right up there. I've heard the intro of this song played at ball games. It's such a feel good song.

"Shake Your Body (Down to the Ground)" is my favorite Destiny cut. thumbs up!

Destiny is their greatest. Then comes Triumph. Or is it vice versa--either way Destiny is their top two greatest. They need to regroup.

Push me away with the marvellous Clare Fischer string arrangement is sublime.
Plus it is Michael's most yearning and wounded vocal performance EVER!

i.e. One of his best!

I'm here. What do yu want to know? I've owned this album a grand total of 5 times. That should tell you something.

'All Night Dancin' is not weak.It has a great 'live' sound to it.IMO Michaels voice was at it's best in 77/78.Destiny is an essential album, never bettered by the Jacksons.

I can't pick a best track, either 'Shake Your Body' or 'that's what you get.'

IMO The years 1974-1979 contain some of the best vocal work from Michael..."I Am Love", "We're Almost There", Show You The Way To Go", "Push Me Away", "Different Kind Of Lady", "I Can't Help It"... headbang "All I Do Is Think Of You"...
