JUDE LAW SET TO PLAY BOWIE

British acting hunk JUDE LAW is set to play rock legend DAVID BOWIE, in a new movie about his life.Law met Bowie backstage at the singer's REALITY concert at New York's Madison Square Garden last week, where the two both expressed an interest in the project.A Source close to Bowie says, "There's just so much material for a film and Jude could play him perfectly."Bowie's spokesman refused to confirm plans, but teased, "They are very good friends and David always has lots of ideas for new projects."

My brain said "Jude Law is hot!" but I couldn't remember what he looked like.

Then my brain said "He doesn't really look like Bowie though.. -Let's get a slushie!"

He looks more like Damon Albarn, but maybe with the right hair, makeup and clothing, he'll pull it off.

He's certainly talented and versatile enough.

I've read several times that a Joy Division biopic is in the works.

My vote goes to Tobey Mcguire to play Ian Curtis.

Could totally see Tobey as Ian Curtis.

Hey TRON, I know this is off-topic but I have read that you really dig Joy Division. "Disorder" became one of my all-time favorite songs this year upon purchase of Unknown Pleasures, Closer, and the non-album tracks collection of Substance. What should I get next? I saw a video with Joy Division performing in front of the cover art from Unknown Pleasures. I really enjoyed it, but I wasn't sure if it was from the BBC or what.

Hey TRON, [color=#f0f0f0:8b4fe2b43a:b1717b27a9]I know this is off-topic but I have read that you really dig Joy Division. Was the art on the drumkit? What'd they perform? Transmission and She's Lost Control?

That's so cool that you're getting into them? How'd it happen?

"Disorder" is my single favorite song by anyone ever. Nothing makes me feel more. They became my favorite band within months of hearing their music.

They don't have a lot of material. Only about 50 songs total. I would suggest getting the "Heart And Soul" box set. The sound quality is wonderful and the rarities are well worth it. The book that comes with it is really insightful as well. After that, I'd recommend New Order's twin box set, Retro.

Cool trick btw. wink

The cover art was on like a tapestry thing hanging on the wall behind them, not the kickdrum.

I owned some New Order material, and was REALLY into the more organic right-after-Joy-Division songs like "Procession" and "In a Lonely Place". I also saw that music video that I only recall sounding more post-punk/newwavey than the electronic stuff from New Order. And of course Ian Curtis' captivating vocals. I just decided to pick up those 3 JD albums this year.

I went online and read a bit about that Heart And Soul box set. I saw that it includes some stuff from John Peel Sessions, which is awesome!! Have you heard the New Order Peel Sessions?

Jude Law's not the worst possible choice. I'm starting to warm to the idea.

I'm not sure which performance that is. I'll have to suss the videos I have to see if I recognize what you're talking about. Where did you see them? And what did they perform?

At first I preferred Joy Division to New Order by far, but it's a lot more even now. JD just hits closer to home for me. Have you checked out New Order's most recent album, Get Ready? It's probably the most rocking thing they've ever recorded. It's a lot more fluid than the dancier stuff.

I do have the New Order Peel Sessions and I really like them. At first I thought Movement was rubbish, but hearing them again on the Peels made me re-evaluate my opinion. Now I quite like those songs.

What are some of your other favorite JD tunes?

Can't recall what song because I didn't know what it was at the time. I saw it on MuchMOREMusic here in Canada in random video play one morning. I remember it said the video was from 1980, but I knew the album with that tapestry art on the wall was from 1979... confuse That doesn't really help.

"Day Of The Lords" is a fave. I'm not sure which version of "She's Lost Control" I like more (Unknown Pleasures or the version on Substance). "Leaders of Men", "Atmosphere"...

As for New Order Peel Sessions, I dig "Dreams Never End".

What makes you recommend the New Order box set other than the post-JD connection?

Because it's fucking great and the 2 box sets together show their evolution wonderfully. And they're set up in a similar fashion. 4 discs each. The first 2 dedicated to their finished studio tracks. The 3rd represent the demos for JD and the remixes for NO. And the 4th are live sets. The packaging is similar and the treatment is the same. They're a great way of turning yourself from a casual fan to a diehard in no time. wink

Too bad its been denied. My former wife has the major hots for both these guys, so she would have been drooling at the idea! I think a bio-pic of Bowie is definitely in order, seeing as how that would make a great flick. Lotsa drama, excitement and general weirdness to fill a motion picture.

I don't wanna see a Bowie biopic unless it's based on a Bowie autobiography, which has yet to be written. Bowie's famously private about his personal life, and I remember in an interview once Bowie saying "don't hold your breath" for an autobio. I love movies that reference Bowie and have Ziggy-esque characters, but I dunno that a biopic would be altogether necessary...if, for no other reason, nobody could do him justice.

If they did it like The Doors then I would be happy.

Lol, it's called makeup smile

I just think his facial structure is more akin to Bowie's, anyway.
