Stevie Wonder - Characters I got sum new cd's today i havent listened 2 yet (Ruben Studdard, Alecia Keys, & Joe), plus i finally put Minnie Riperton's Perfect Angel, Delfonics "Tell Me This Is A Dream" on CD and finally:
"You Will Know" always seem to make me AMG gave it 2 1/2 stars (deserved at least 3 but they didnt give it a bad review at all) and I actually enjoy it more than Innervisions, yes i said i enjoy it just a tad more than Innervisions. I also like the funky "My Eyes Don't Cry" which was a bonus track along with "Come Let Me Make Your Love Come Down" on the cd. I had the original album back in '87, But had 2 get the cd.

I truely love how you review Stevie's work,,,from a new fan's prespective(even tho you're not a new fan of Stevie). What I love about this album how simple & basic-produced it was esp in a time when over-produced synthsizer-oriented and loud drum machines and not to mention the born of new jack swing were WILD at that moment(87) so I really love this album 4 its difference, not the best but its ONE of the best from 87 IMO

'Characters' is a great album by Stevie. However I think his best 1980's album is 'In Square Circle' which is excellent. I like almost every single song on that album!
As 4 'Characters' thats great 2, 'Skeletons' is a funky track, 'You Will Know' is great too and there's 'Free' which is a cool song. 'Characters'

'Characters' I kinda am a new stevie fan just started buying his albums this year, although i have had "Hotter Than July" & "Anthology" sice was about 8 or 9 years old. I remember listenin 2 "Signed Sealed Delivered" every time I come back from school going to PS79X in the Bronx. (I also was in love with Just Good Friends & Skeletons).
Yes Characters is underrated 2me. I never heard "in Square Circle" i should check it out. 2day i listened 2 "Fufillingness..yeah, ummm yeah...(maybe next time stevie maybe i just wansnt in the slow cuts mood... Straight Jacket Funk Affair

I kind of want to get this album just based on that song but I own no Stevie so I think I should at least have the god sense to buy an anthology or greatest hits of some kind.

I still have a vinyl copy of this great album along with the 12" of skeletons ( complete with Reagan speeches etc ). I remember seeing the video for Skeletons and vaguely recall some well known actors in cameos... was John Travolta in this vid or is age playing tricks with my memory?

I love this Stevie album. You Will Know makes me cry, too, especially at the single mom part. My favorite song, though is With Each Beat My Heart. Just listen to the breathing through this song. It is easily one of my top ten favorite Stevie songs.

You know,I'm gonna have to pull this CD out and give it another chance.Whenever I have the urge to hear Stevie,I usually just stick with his 70s albums, forgetting that he created some wonderful songs in the 80s as well.
