Madonna's actual singing voice is attrocious, particularly live. I laughed so much when she rose from the wedding cake on the Britney and Christina performance... off-key, shakey and just plain bad... it was kinda tragic to see Christina and even Britney holding their own far better than Madonna could.

No doubt the vocal training from Evita improved her range somewhat, but anybody can sound acceptable with training.

Faith Evans- Mary J. Blige got the props I think Faith deserved

Rahsaan Patterson- I added him to this list because his two albums were so great and overlooked, I couldn't keep him off of a list about anything underrated.

I feel you on these choices. clapping But may I also add Karen Clark Sheard and Twinkie Clark to that list as well. Simply amazing!!!

Okaypimpn, oh trust me, I love both Twinkie and Karen, and in no way was I trying to take anything away from them. They very well deserve all of the credit that they get for their wonderful voices. My point was when most people think of the Clark Sisters, most of the focus is on Twinkie and Karen, and in the past a lot of people "missed" Dorinda's vocal ability because she was sort of "in the background" along with Jackie. I am in no way saying Twinkie and Karen deserved any less attention. I'm just saying Dorinda's incredible vocal ability deserved more attention. That's why I only listed her. But trust me , I love all of the Clark Sisters.
I am convinced Beyonce's career would not be where it is, if she had dark skin.

STOKLEY of Mint Condition! Dude sings circles around MOST of the R&B vocalists out these days, yet people almost NEVER talk about him. If yoou listen to any one of their CDs in its entirety, you'll hear vocal brilliance, though it probably won't be on the singles.

Jesse Powell - great vocalist; underrated outside of those aware of him.

David Ryan Harris - Stevie Wonder meshed with Seal meets Lenny Kravitz. Very PURE voice.

Sam Salter - this brotha could SANG! Not enough airtime to validate his talents when he had a deal.

Olivia - Her CD dropped at the same time (pretty much) as Alicia Keys' first release. Olivia was a little more "street" (vulgar), and J Records had to have a "megastar", Olivia's vocal abilities exceeded Alicia's by a longshot, but...as usual...MARKETability wins over ability.

Amel Larrieux - Her voice is beautful and full of emotion, but she doesn't get much props. Her range is easily equal to Mariah and she uses it much more creatively. She's paid her dues in projects like Groove Theory, Fishpaw and Sweetback. She deserves a BIG leg up.

Jane Child - DAMN! She can sing! Jane's creativity level rival's Prince's in my opinion. Her songs are complex and deep, she writes all her own stuff, her range is great and her voice is as strong as Christina A's. Jane is off the chain. Seems like the industry played her. Too bad. I think she's a brilliant artist.

I could go on all day on this topic. That's enough for now.

Can you believe Jesse is singing Gospel now at my church? You would not believe the transformation!

Amen to that! They kept switching her from jazz to R & B.
She should have stayed with jazz. R & B did not appreciate her like a jazz audience! One of the reasons she committed suicide was because she was not appreciated musically!

I feel you. I feel you. The Clark Sisters are really so underrated it's ridiculous. It seems like the first gospel artists that are called to appear on awards shows are either Donnie McClurkin or Yolanda Adams (which isn't a bad thing, because they are both talented vocalists as well), but NO ONE can compare to Jackie, Twinkie, Dorinda or Karen!

I'm just glad that there are artists such as Missy Elliott, Tweet, Mariah Carey and Faith Evans that look up to them and recognize their talents as being an inspiration to their own music. thumbs up!

I actually think the Bee Gees are underrated as vocalists. Their songwriting has been praised in recent years but as three part harmonists (is that a word?) they're much undervalued. Sometimes they're nothing short of beautiful.
