Prince isn't even close to Springsteen, Dylan, or the Grateful Dead when it comes to number of boots.

Prince can beat most artists in outtakes (Stevie and George aside), but not in bootleg cd's as he really doesn't tour all that much.

It is safe to say that EVERY show by EVERY major artist is booted in one way or another smile

I hate live bootlegs. Studio outtakes of songs that never made it onto albums or singles are what I love from Prince, and I bet his out-number any artist.

Led Zeppelin are the most bootlegged band in history, media reports have stated (a year or two ago.) The Rolling Stones are second, I think Dylan might be third, not sure. An anecdotal example: I visited a record fair at the Electric Ballroom in Camden (North London) and probably a clear majority of most of the bootlegs I saw were Led Zep, there were hundreds.

There are 6 artists who have far and away the most bootlegs:

Grateful Dead (of course)
Bob Dylan
Led Zeppelin
The Rolling Stones
Bruce Springsteen
Neil Young

As for who has the most, i'm not sure, but I find it difficult to believe it would be Led Zeppelin for the simple reason that they were not together and did not tour nearly as long as, say, The Rolling Stones, Dylan, Neil Young and Springsteen. It would be interesting to see the number of concerts Led Zeppelin has performed compared to, say, Bob Dylan. Dylan has toured off and on (mostly ON) since the early 60's through today, and his shows are heavily bootlegged. Led Zep was around for, what, 11 years or so? It would be interesting to see the total number of bootlegs.

For "modern" artists, I would think Prince is right up there with U2, Radiohead, Tori Amos, Dave Matthews Band

Zeppelin may be the most cause they constantly release the same shows over & over with different quality.

Anxiety

Bowie's got a bunch of live bootlegs in circulation, but the quality on most of 'em isn't anywhere near most of Prince's bootlegs...we're spoiled.
