Your Favorite Jimi Hendirx CD

There are so many revisions, remasters and different cd's that he has out now.. what is ure favorite?

I think my two have to be First Rays Of The New Rising Sun
and Axis Bold As Love

Those two are very creative and are bluesy.. smile

personally, i like Hendrix In The West the most as of late. War Heroes is groovy too...

anyone heard the bootleg tape known as "Black Gold"? it's hendrix just jamming and working out new songs by himself--it has the absolute BEST version of "Angel" on it. smile

I think it has to be Electric Ladyland, probably the best rock album ever. The new Berkley CD is pretty good too

Anxiety

My favorite will always be Are You Experienced, which I know isn't exactly the most original choice, but it was the record my mom gave me when I was a little boy and wanted to play her drum set for the first time - she just told me to put the album on and try to play along as best I could, and that's how I learned to play drums, so that album will always have special memories for me.

I love Axis too, bunches and heaps, though for some ridiculous reason I don't own it on CD...

I would say that the following are essential:

Are You Expirienced
Axis:Bold As Love
Electric Ladyland
Band Of Gypsys
First Rays of The New Rising Sun

The rest are gravy,tho.

If I had to pick a least favorite,it would be "Jimi Plays Woodstock".Very sloppy.

But that improvisation together with Villanova Junction is secod to none... drool

I've got most of the Black Gold stuff and yeah you have to be crazy to sit through it all but there are some fascinating moments.

Best of the Bootlegs album is pretty cool. Has that acoustic version of angel with sweet ass singing by the guy, and also has a 10 plus minute astro man instrumental that just blows me aways everytime I listen to it.

Best official album for me, first one for the songs, third one for the guitar ofcourse.
jerkoff.....drool BULLSEYE! cool

well... i AM crazy to be sure. smile but the black gold CD that i'm referring to is only 40 minutes long at tops! it has him working out some new tracks (notably 1983 (a merman i should turn to be)), and if we're on the same page here, i think that version of angel you're referring to is from this tape as well. it was also featured on that abominable LIFELINES 3 cd/tape set. GREAT idea to let people hear all of this rare stuff floating around, but to have the narrator TALK all over most of the tracks??? unforgivable. should have come with a separate disc of all the rarities w/o the voiceovers IMO.
