Kylie Minogue's Body Language
US release date is February 10, 2004. US Tracklisting: 1. Slow 2. Still Standing 3. Secret (Take You Home) 4. Promises 5. Sweet Music 6. Red Blooded Woman 7. Chocolate 8. Obsession 9. I Feel For You 10. Someday 11. Loving Days 12. After Dark 13. Cruise Control (US Exclusive Bonus Track) 14. You Make Me Feel (US/Japan Exclusive Bonus Track) While this has been a disappointing effort for Kylie from a commercial standpoint (at least in international markets), artistically I think it's a definite winner. Best songs would have to be Slow, Secret (Take You Home), Still Standing, Loving Days, and Red Blooded Woman. It's certainly much different from Fever, and feels like a genuine progression from that album, which fans may or may not embrace and enjoy. Kylie Minogue - Body Language (Parlophone/EMI) AMG rating: (****1/2) If Light Years was the comeback, and Fever the confirmation, then Body Language can best be described as Kylie's "big step forward." Sure it's still simple dance-pop, but this time she (and a team of producers and writers — including Kurtis Mantronik — it must be said) has put together an album that works as a piece. It's stylish without being smarmy, retro without being ironic, and its energy never gets annoying. In other words: a near perfect pop record. Instead of opting for more of the light dance- and disco-pop of the last two releases, Kylie has sought to expand her horizons. Adding elements of electroclash, '80s synth pop, bouncy club beats — even a dash of Eminem-style raps! — she's found the formula that not only makes her vocal shortcomings irrelevant but gives her the edge on the rest of the divas on their newfound quest: maturity. While Madonna, Xtina, and Britney have attempted to achieve maturity through trashiness and not really all that shocking behavior (i.e., that MTV Awards kiss), Kylie maintained a low profile, retained a sense of class, and put together what may well be the best album of her career. Simply, Body Language is what happens when a dance-pop diva takes the high road and focuses on what's important instead of trying to shock herself into continued relevance. — Chris True What does everyone else think of this record? I was surprised cuz I hated Kylie Minogue. My brother played it for me and I really like it. I wasn't expecting to though. I like the first half the best, especially the first 5 songs. They remind me of a cross between Camille era Prince and her sister's last album. The 2nd half has its moments but it's a lot more predicatable and radio friendly. Most of it reminds me of leftovers from Madonna's Bedtime Stories and TLC's Fanmail. But she could have some hit singles with those. Red Blooded Woman seems the most likely to do well cuz it's a cookie cutter copy of Survivor and Cry Me A River. I like the bonus track too. I'd agree with AMG. It's her best yet.

As an album I think it is MUCH better than Fever. Not as catchy as Light Years and not as good as Kylie Minugue '94 or Impossible Princess, but it's grown on me so much. I find it really weird that Fever was so big in comparison all because of one massive hit single (which wasn't even the best track).
I don't think BL has any huge killer singles, but it's still a strong album. Slow was definitely not the right song to launch it.
