Bowie is incredible. To pick a favorite is tough, because I go back and forth. Many of his recent albums are fantastic, although it may take a couple of listens to realise it.

By the way, if you can find the limited edition of Bowie At The Beeb with the bonus third disc, it is definitely worth a listen. The first two discs were recorded during his formative 70s years, whereas the third disc is a live concert he did in 2000 at the BBC. Fantastic stuff!

Absolutely!!

IMHO the BBC 2000 is the best DB live release.
Great tracklist with superb rendition of all the songs.
Really wonderful!

That is fantastic! I also love the arrangement on "Let's Dance"! Oh, and "I'm Afraid Of Americans" rocks so hard!!! So does "Hello Spaceboy"! Oh hell, the whole thing is perfect!!!

What's the Golden Years video look like? Is it a live clip?

It's probably the one from the Serious Moonlight Tour.

Or Soul Train

Yeah! It's from Soul Train, that's right...it's basically all black people dancing to this song with Bowie, the sole white guy, crooning away. It's very cool and funky.

I don't have many Bowie albums, but my interest in him has really started to grow lately.

I picked up Low recently. I dunno what to make of it, nothing like what I expected it to be. A little odd, but the cover photos are Gorgeous!

What were you expecting?

What do you have so far?

I don't think Low is something you can anticipate at all no matter how well someone describes it to you.

From the title and the cover art I was expecting a crash & burn album of somber introspective tracks.

Instead it was a collection of quirky instrumentals and songs.

Its a sophisticated album but i really gotta be in the mood to listen to it.

See, to me it's all of that. The pain on that album is intense.

It's about as open and honest a look you'll get into Bowie's life and mind.

Cool. It's my favorite album by anyone ever.

I can see how it's a challenging listen for someone new to it/him.

Bowie works so much with stories, characters and other personas that it's hard to get to the "real" Bowie, but when you do it knocks your socks off... like LOW, for example... such an amazing album...

Definitely.

Low, "Heroes", Lodger and Scary Monsters all are at the core of who he is. And notice that he wasn't really playing dress up for the Berlin period. Maybe this is why those are my favorite albums of his. It's nice to see him opening up again with "Heathen" and "Reality".
