For me, it's really the instrumentals. Eric Leeds rules. Mutiny is a great track, but it's better when Prince sings it. The First Avenue show is awesome. Eric goes OFF on the sax AND flute.

Hell yeah! "Susannah's pajamas" and "Yes" are the shizzle fo shizzle But I still love the string section in NC2U. :hide: You can't hate on Desire either!

St Paul just ruins it for me. Everthing else is cool. I'd rather listen to the Family demos with Prince on vocals and Eric goes off on those a little more too.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who hates the Family's version of that song! I've never liked it but I was afraid to say it...lol...Sinead's version is superior and even Prince and Rosie's version is better than that schmaltzy, sterile version by The Family.don't get me wrong,I like most of The Family's album("River Run Dry" is the real gem from that project).

I love The Family's version of that song. It's the first one I heard and I'm sticking by that. I hate Sinead's version and am lukewarm to Prince's version. The Family's album is still one of my favorite albums and I especially love River Run Dry.

the family's version of nc2u ia truly awful...agreed !
i love sineads version , it kicks p's ass big time ! the only p version i really like is ona live with candy !!! the family's album is great ive had it right from the year o release ! , i just think ther ver is lacking in emotion that song needs emotion p sometimes gives it and sometimes doesnt !!! sinead sings it likes she means it !!! Sinead's arrangement made one change to the song that was responsible for giving the hook real life.
Check out P's version, it just goes back and forth between major chords and doesnt really move anywhere: Bb..,..,..,F..,..,Bb..,..,..,F..,..,.C nothing compares, nothing compares 2 U Okay, now Sinead's version (in a different key). Not only does the chorus modulate rather than reusing the chords from the verse, someone decided to add a minor chord!!! before descending down to tonic: D#..,..,..,Bb..,.*Dm*..,..,..C Nothing compares, nothing compares 2 U. I think that minor chord is the secret to the success of the superior Sinead version. Not to mention the trip-hop-before-it-was-trip-hop drums courtesy of Nellee Hooper. The only version worth listening to.

A friend of mine digs it, I don't care for it.
But High Fashion, Mutiny and The Screams of Passion are sufficient atonement! Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016
