I was just exaggerrating; actually it's not that much of an exaggerration considering some of the things she's said (she's "gotten a lot of positive comments" on her vaginal piercings). I agree with your last post. That does make it seem a little ridiculous, and as I've said before I think she should focus more on her talent and not her image or "message", but I still agree with most of what she says and does. | |

I still stick behind what I said about Christina...I believe she does have a message and something valid to say, she just doesn't have the smarts and genius of madonna to get it across as well. But I get what she's doing, and most of the time I agree with her. ~KiKi | |

We're talking about 22 year old here, there is always room for change. actually, that's a good point that i'd like to address. the difference betweeen what Madonna did and when she did it is that most of the time (and i emphasize that: MOST OF THE TIME) she had something to say. she was pushing cultural buttons, making a point, creating an avenue for discourse in certain areas where none was available previously. yeah, she sold a lot of albums along the way, but she actually had something to say and knew how to use her sexuality to say it, or to bring attention to what she was saying or doing in shifting the culture. the difference between that and the new girls is that the messages and the point never sank in with them. all they saw is that being provocative will get you attention. that's what Madonna did. but when Madonna had your attention, she actually had something to say. these girls don't get that, nor do they seem to have any interest in having something to say. true...though I don't think that applies to Christina. She seems to actually have a message and something to say. Her remarks may be bitchy and catty, but most of the time they're true. She uses her look/image/and sometimes music to say be who you are and question/challenge double standards, unlike Britney who says she dresses the way she does to "feel pretty". Britney & comp. apply to what you said, but not Christina. She may be over the top and look trashy but she DOES have something to say...just like madonna. I'm not saying she's the next madonna or anything like that (like there ever will be another one), but I still don't get the criticism towards her that comes from madonna fans, she seems to be doing the same thing madonna did, and it seems that madonna followers would get that. actually, i don't think she does have anything to say. if so, what is it? and the only time she says anything about a double standard is because she's dressing like a slut. not for her ambition or drive or intelligence. having something to say means more than having something to say about yourself.
