Sheena sure does look amazing these days...anyone have her 2001 album? How has her voice aged? It was always so well-modulated and pure -- plus she was uber-hot. We need more singers like Sheena today. I have fond memories of Strut, Sugar Walls, It's Hard To Say It's Over (in fact, the entire A Private Heaven LP) and, of course, U Got The Look. Great jams. Her non-Prince stuff is also worth looking into. She did some interesting material with Nile Rodgers (her Do You album was produced just before he did Like A Virgin) and Telefone (Long Distance Love Affair) is really underrated.

Sheena is an excellent singer. Very diverse. It's a shame she never really broke huge in the US. She was always overshadowed by less-talented females. Her albums in the 80's were all pretty consistant. I love A PRIVATE HEAVAN and LOVER IN ME.
LOVER IN ME (1988) was an excellent R&B album mainly produced by LA & Babyface. Plus 2 Prince tracks..'101' and 'Cool Love'...This album did fairly well...albums by Paula Abdul and Karyn White were doing much better. Her jazz album in the early 90's (I think it was called 'No Strings') was also really good. I have the cassette somewhere...man I might just have to pull out my old tapes and records and throw on some Sheena. She had a gig in Vegas for a couple of years. I wonder if she's still doing her thing there. I found it so annoying that so many people confused SHEENA with SHEILA E and vice versa. People STILL do that. I remember an AMA show in the 90's where a country singer introduced Shelia E as "Sheena E"... Hail Sheena! Every minute of last night is on my face today....

I have "Fabulous" and she sounds good on it. I think her vocals held up well. The only ohter album of hers I have is "The Lover In Me", which is kind of spotty but that is really the fault of the producers. I would like to see if her if I'm ever in Vegas. I just wish she would get it together enough and try for a major comeback (guess her people would have to help her with that though).

Did she speak in that stick-on American accent she wears over her Scottish one? [This message was edited Sun Dec 14 5:59:13 PST 2003 by frankjotzo]

One of these days I gotta pick up a Sheena Easton greatest hits set. She's had some fun, catchy singles that I had forgotten about...
"Morning Train (Nine To Five)" (1981) "Telephone (Long Distance Love Affair)" (1983) "Sugar Walls" (1985) "Strut" (1985) "The Lover In Me" (1988) "What Comes Naturally" (1991) Her entire 'Lover In Me' album is GREAT! There are two excellent Prince-produced tracks, and some of LA and Babyface's best songs ever.
