//Codename:Dustsucker coming March 2004 www.barkpsychosis.com has reported that the follow-up to the massively influential Hex will be released on Fire Records of the UK in March of 2004. About time, since Hex came out in 94. If you follow the link to the Fire Records website, you can find samples of the upcoming album there. OK, lets just put David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix, Prince and The Beatles in one category since its such a given that they were massively influencial and do get the respect that they deserve. It's a time and place thing.
It's like saying a band is the as innovative as Robert Johnson or Charlie Parker or (more current) Jimi Hendrix. They all changed popular music history in some way as did the Beatles but to compare is a little arrogant because nobody has ever heard of this band. Technology changes, attitudes change, the world changes but until someone steps up through the state of music today, I'm not feeling any innovators today. Innovative could really describe Sigur Ros or Bjork because they are doing something completely different than what popular music has ever done. I like these bands but innovators they are not. I have always said its her voice that drives me nuts That's understandable. It's very different and not meant for everyone. I didn't like it at first either. Bjork doesn't really have any drum and bass or jungle in her music other than some of her remixes. | |

The only Bjork tune I thought was ok was It's Oh So Quiet, which I don't believe she wrote. But then again, I can't say I have really given her the benifit of the doubt either. I hated Human Behavior and Big Time Sensuality, which were my first impressions of her music. So I guess I wrote her off early. Her vids were kinda cool though. Oddly enough, that might be my least favorite Bjork song, because it seems least like her. I hated Human Behaviour too when I first heard it. If you want to hear something truly gorgeous with more subtle vocals, check out Vespertine, her last album. | |
