The TIme with Prince.."Girl"! I was listening to this the other day and think someone should cover this, it would be a huge hit. Does anyone know how this was recorded? I figure Prince plays everything and sings backup, but did he just replace his lead vocal with Morris's? or do yu think they sang it together at the same session? Anybody ever read anything about the recording of this song? ______________________________________________

You do remember the remake by Full Force, dontcha?
But yeah,"Girl" is a wonderful song.I'm not sure exactly how it was recorded, but I assume that Prince probably recorded his own version, then simply erased his vocals and replaced it with Morris? You can clearly hear Prince on backup vocals.Prince is all over that first Time album.Listen to "Get It Up" and especially "The Stick"...those could be considered Morris/Prince duets!

'Girl' is a cool song. As 4 the recording of the album. Prince as 'Jamie Starr' recorded all the album himself with Dr Fink and other Revolution members, Lisa Coleman is the uncredited writer of 'The Stick'. Prince's vocals were meant as guide vocals 4 Morris Day, as Morris wasn't really a singer, he was a drummer, but 4some reason Prince's vocals remain, there4 they r audible on 'The Time'.
I view 'The Time' as Prince featuring The Time anyway but I have no reason why Prince didn't let Jimmy Jam & Lewis, Monte Moir, Jellybean and Jesse play on the album, they r all very talented musicians. Perhaps Prince was gonna release the album himself but gave it 2 Morris instead. But I'm a big fan of Morris Day & The Time and u can see how great they r on 'Pandemonium'!
