I remember buying Pearly Dewdrops Drops on 7" back in the 80's. Excellent single. I make up my own words to it when I sing along!

Vina, Tron get the albums Anxiety listed & also the Treasure album, you won't be disappointed,I hope. In fact alot of the groups on the 4AD label during the 80s were great: Bauhaus Birthday Party Dead Can Dance Throwing Muses Pixies Ultra Vivid Scene Pale Saints Modern English(I Melt With You) Colourboxx so many others I can't remember right now. [This message was edited Thu Dec 11 10:14:15 PST 2003 by PhilG] You said a mouthful. 4AD has had some of the best underground music in its time. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

Tom said: From what I recall reading, they very seldomly use real words in their lyrics. Its been an ongoing theme/joke in their songs. Although I heard a few english words in Heaven Or Las Vegas.
Their 80's output had to have an effect on Prince, his vocals on tracks like God sound very much like Cocteau Twins. It's so funny when artists do this. Dead Can Dance, one of my favorite groups of all times, often did this also. People thought the two lead vocalists knew all sorts of ancient, esoretic languages, but they just used whatever sounded good phonetically. ...and it sounded amazing! Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

What a beautiful thread. Dead Can Dance is one of my favourite bands ~ I especially love the made up language used by Lisa Gerrard. It is very interesting to hear her speak about it in the box set interview and makes it even more beautiful. I have loved everything I've heard from Cocteau twins although it has been limited. I'm already searching out some titles on ebay and will catch up soon. I also love This Mortal Coil and some of the work by Black Tape For A Blue Girl but they are quite difficult to find around here. Don't many of these artists share with each other ~ that is perform on one another's songs ~ it seems they show up in the most unexpected but always identifiable (through their unique style) places. Have you ever heard of Palace Of Worms? They were (are) a small Italian company that put out some obscure artists ~ Vehemance Realized and Stay Frightened among them ~ both very intersting bands. I haven't heard much about POW lately though.

You owe it to yourself Lammastide. 8 albums, 10 EP's and 9 singles (most with two non-album tracks). The following albums are essential. Their EP's are rarely found seperately anymore since Capitol reissued them as a box set in 1991. If you do come across them seperately, I highly recommend... Tiny Dynamine and Echoes In A Shallow Bay LP...
