Anxiety

Oh yes. Absolutely amazing piece of music. Channeled from another dimension. Ever heard his widow Alice's work? She's done some pretty deep stuff too.

After hearing this for the first time, I seriously considered joining his church and being baptized as a Coltranist.

I attended The Saint John Coltrane Church recently where the (jazz) music and art inspire community and self-respect. The Minister plays sax and conch-shell and the house-band Ohnedaruth, along with whatever players have turned up in the congregation, churn out the rifts of John Coltrane. The bassist, Wanika King, would close her eyes and achieve the quiet focus to carry forth the rhythm and the punctuated gospel message from the Voices of Compassion choir. The life-sized icons of Saint John the Divine Sound Baptist that adorn the walls of this storefront church are created by Rev. Mark Dukes and adeptly incorporate a mannerist modeling that recalls stylized inner-city tags. Here there is hope.

I was in Albany NY for a week once and went to this record store looking for some jazz stuff. I picked up a CD entitled "John Coltrane Gold Collection" (one of those $5 things cuz I didn't have much money) and it had all of A Love Supreme on it. I get it home and listen to it, turns out it's a bootleg of a live gig! Same quartet as the studio album even! The quality of it is kinda bad but for you audiophiles out there...it is definitely worth picking up especially considering it's only arond $5!
