10,000 Maniacs is from a town 45 min. away from where I used to go 2 college. They used to record at the studio at the college all tht ime back in the day and rumor has it that there are several tapes of older stuff they recorded there in the vaults!

Is this is it a "Best Of" CD (which they should have had out years ago) or is it a box set. They had some great songs. I think Natalie Merchant recently released a collection of folk covers. She definately gets farther away from her first solo album, which was a pretty big hit and had several big singles, all the time. And the really funny thing about "Tigerlily"(I think that's the title) was that it came out the same day as Michael Jackson's "History" and probably much wasn't expected of it but in the long run I think more people remember Natalie's album and it probably sold more in the US.

that is just the strangest connection i have ever seen but, yeah, natalie's most recent release if a folk record. that's where her heart has always been but the record company had issues with allowing their pop artist to record what she wanted. that's why she started her own label.
