BEYONCE THE LEAD OF THE GRAMMY NOMINATIONS

Am I the only one who see's something wrong with this picture? Tell me why in the world is Beyonce the lead in the grammy's when her album wasn't even all that good ? I mean, I ain't trying to hate, but you know the only real good songs she had on the whole album was the ones they played on the radio, it was not worth her being the damn near lead of grammies this yr. I am furios about this, what the hell happened to our music, who the hell are we 2 blame?

It use to be a time when the grammies was about giving awards to the people who deserved it. It use to be a time were the grammies awarded those who were the most talented, not the most commercial. Now it's all about awarding those who has the most commercial acts out there, regardless at how much the album really does suck. First example of this , Songs in A minor. I'm sorry y'all, it's cool that Alicia Keys can play the piano in all, but y'all very well damn know , that album did not deserve seven grammies !

It was nothing original about it and to top it off, she didn't even make how come you don't call me anymore her own song like Maxwell did with a Woman's work. The album sounded rushed and it sounded like one big demo. Not 2 mention She ripped off James Brown it's a man's world without even giving credit when credit was due. That pisses me off, cuz we're acknowledge all these talentedless people all while people like Maxwell and Meshell Nedegelo (who as real talent) are getting ignore. Why do we do this ? Why do we ignore those who are truly gifted in the art they do?

I'm sorry y'all, but i'm not even interested in the damn grammies this year, I've had up 2 here with those damn people. They need to get it right and start giving it up to those who deserve it. Not because of how much commercialism it got or how much it was marketing. This is a wake up call y'all, music is dying as we very well speak, I bet you Prince won't even be nominated for the The Rainbow children or even One Night Alone, and you know , y'all know what the deal is with that... As y'all can this sistah is pissed

I know exactly what you mean...remember when it was Prince and MJ competing against each other in multiple categories? Those were the days...

It's odd...they never bothered to honour great albums such as Madonna's Like A Prayer or Janet's Rhythm Nation in 1989, but now they're doling noms to whoever gets the most radio play? Talk about a change of heart...from "we're too artsy to go mainstream" to "we love mainstream...only now mainstream is generally shit!" in 10 years.

I really don't know why you guys are so disappointed.

If you know the Grammy nominating committee's history, you know they're more times than not full of uncut crap.
This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

I don't agree with you there. The "Dangerously In Love" album was an OK album. The only place I heard amazingly glowing reviews on it by music fans was here. You'd think sliced bread would have to move over! Anyway, I dissagree with her singles (the ones radio won't stop playing..ever!) are the best songs. "Crazy In Love" is very good but "Baby Boy" is the worst song on the album. Sean Paul is the devil and the devil spreads his message via payola! But seriously, it the weakest track and some of the ballads are better, not to mention "That's How I Like It", which is my favorite from the album.

It is kind of a joke that she has the most nods. I mean basically she is record company pet. Nobody made those hit singles of hers hits besides radio. Do you think people really enjoy hearing "Baby Boy" a million times over?

This is total bullshit. The Grammys are a joke.Beyonce's album is just trendy, formulaic R&B...nothing more, nothing less.Several years ago, when Lauryn Hill swept the Grammys, she totally deserved it because 'Miseducation' is an amazing,INSPIRED album with real meaningful music and lyrics.Does anyone really believe that Beyonce's by-the-numbers,radio-friendly music is on that same level? Will anyone still be playing 'Dangerously In Love' five years from now? Damn, this is depressing disbelief

True but as I posted in another forum is it kind of the best of all those bad trendy R&B albums of the year. No, it doesn't touch some of my favorites like "Elephant" and "Bare" this year but its good. Certaintly not what some people were touting it to be (mostly people in this club!). And I was thinking that while they are promoting this as a big year for hip-hop and R&B, it doesn't even tough the Lauryn Hill album and what happened that year. Now that was groundbreaking and all this year is mostly consists of bubblegum hip hop. And to be honest, I don't even the love the Lauryn Hill album as much as most people but this stuff is utter crap compared to it.

The Grammy's was ova for me when people started wearing Jeans and Timbalands, and T-shirts and Jersey's to the Grammy's. Even my sweety Janet wore Jeans and a cut off blouse to the grammy's a couple years ago. People would wear their "gear" to the American Music Awards and the Soul Train Awards and to the MTV Awards, but they would DRESS for the Grammy's because it was the more classy "important" of the group. Now, you can't tell the difference.

By the way, I totally agree with what's been basically stated so far. It really puts things in perspective when one realizes that in terms of the Grammy's, Beyonce's Dangerously in Love is comparable to The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. That is indeed a shame. Music is dying.
I am convinced Beyonce's career would not be where it is, if she had dark skin.

That song 'Crazy in love' and 'Baby boy' is doing it for the album, it's all over the charts for some time. I have the album, bootleg...HAHAHA!!1 and I think it's quite good. There's a couple of songs I really like besides those, 'Me, Myself, and I', and the track with Luther Vandross and some other ones I thought were pretty good. But you should know by now I guess that the Grammys is not about who has a really good album or some REALLY GOOD songs anymore...has it ever really been anyway!!!
