They wouldn't allow Whitney Houston to be nominated in 1985 because she had done ONE song with Teddy Pendergrass in 1984. Big fucking whoop. Cyndi Lauper had been cutting records with Blue Angel since 1984 (when she won BNA), and Shelby Lynne had been around for 10 years when she won...talk about out of touch.

Everytime something like Fountains of Wayne or Shelby Lynne happens they say it is becuase this was the year when they really got recognized (by the man!). I totally don't understand the Whitney thing unless the song was kind of a hit or something, then it kind of makes sense. Grammys are a joke as always! But they are nice to bitch about!
