billboard hot 100 is a SHAM

The top 100 is based on airplay and not what the people buy
The number 1 song in the country should be what the people go out and buy, just because you play "baby boy" a million doesn't mean we like it or is the most popular song in the country (Just means your label has paid alot of cash to the programers)
I know that in America for some reason you guys don't get much songs been released as singles, I think they should bring them back
When ever a song is not realeased as a commercial single in america we end up with crap cd's with hardly any remixes
or some half baked Paul Oakenfold mix

All the gals say hoe if your man's giving up the gold. All the fellas say ruff if you're only giving up the bone.

Import singles!

They're still good in Britain, Japan (lovely items from there), most of Europe, and Australia.

Japan's also a haven for collectors of old 12'' singles...often they'll release entire compilations of 12''ers from really obscure artists. eBay rules. And Japan rules because it knows how to treat its music back-catalogue, unlike America, where everything is out-of-print and horribly mastered.

Lol. Sean Paul sounds like a developmentally challenged (and extraordinarily untalented) ape. And that's an insult to developmentally challenged people.

Preach it brother!

And that is the reason that I think many consumers are so pissed at record companies and are not buying albums like these used to. I understand why Billboard changed it in the first place. At the time, many big singles like Aaliyah's "Are You That Somebody" and Barenaked Ladies "One Week" fell through the cracks because they never had a single release (place the blame on the record companies as people would have been more than willing to buy those singles!) so Billboard (which I hardly defend for this action especially seeing what is going on now) said this makes no sense, so let's change the system. So then, not only could a single chart on the Top 100 without a single release but RADIO PLAY BECAME MORE IMPORTANT. Single sales hardly count for anything. In fact, the single has been nearly phased out totally. As much I dislike the music of American Idol, I get pretty happy that when those singles come out (with hardly any radio airplay) they take over the number one spot based on very strong sales and it leaves all those croaked record companies that keep pushing payola scratching their heads. I was kind of shocked when I read this about five years ago and now I’m super freaked because we are living through a corporate nightmare in America. God bless the UK and their super competitive nature when it comes to number one singles, and the fact that their customers decide!

Record companies, make a change. I love radio but I'm going to have to give up on it soon!

And on the Paul Oakenfold front. I feel your pain. I'm not that big into dance music but I know what I dislike and what is crap. I really don't like him.

I've noticed what you are talking about with Japan and how they treat music. They do a great job. Poor US!
