Yes, but nude pictures of Madonna surfaced in Playboy magazine only two years after her first album was released. If we are going to compare the two on this score, then Britney's long overdue...  the difference is, of course, that those pictures were taken before she was famous, when she was little more than a bag lady, living hand to mouth, and everyone knew it. all of Britney's skanky pictures have been taken well after her she made a name for herself. crash. and. burn. | |

There won't BE a next Madonna. The boundaries have been pushed too far. Madonna's earlier stuff looks positively tame compared to what Christina & Britney have been doing. There's nowhere for the two of them to go with the sex thing. After people get sick of seeing their asses, they won't have any way 2 sell records. if Christina grows up, stops talking smack all tht ime, and stops dressing like she does (Not that I'm complaining mind U, but...I'm trying to help her out here!  ) I think she's got a shot at staying around. Her recent album was quite a departure fromt he last one and if she keeps it up, she has the makings of an artist. | |

Was she dingy when she sang "Drove All Night" and released that album and those after it? I agree! We may never see an artist as exciting,as interesting and as provocative as Madonna.Britney,Christina and the others have their merits,but they're not nearly as bold and creative as Madonna is.They're just being sleazy for the sake of being sleazy...there's no purpose,no irony,no real STATEMENT they're trying to make.Back in the early 90s,when Madonna was in her "nasty" phase,she was making a statement.She was tearing down stereotypes,breaking taboos,and getting people to confront and discuss topics that they would have otherwise avoided.Perhaps someday,a new artist might come along and take it to another level,but so far,Christina and Britney have failed to do that.
