Even though she hasn't exactly set the silver screen on fire, Madonna hasn't given up the movies. She's trying something different for her next - she'll be the voice of one of the characters in a full-length cartoon, based on her children's book, The English Roses.

I agree,this is a bad idea.I've read the book and while it's pretty good,I just don't see how they could turn it into a long,interesting movie.

Oh well,maybe she'll record a couple of kickass songs for the soundtrack

guy ritchie was trying to buy the rights to the autobiography of Joan Harrington, an 80's british jewel thief. the book is called i am what i am. supposedly, he wanted to buy the rights to the book so madonna could play the lead in the film. fortunately, for those who don't enjoy madonna's thespian skills, gwyneth paltrow purchased the rights. unfortunately, for those of us who think she's almost as bad an actress as madonna, this means she will be donning another fake british accent. only this time she'll slaughter a cockney accent.

Gwyneth Paltrow Beats Madonna To Play Thief
Oscar-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow has beaten her pal Madonna to play a London diamond thief.

Both superstars wanted the rights to the story of Joan Harrington - known as The Godmother - who stole $5 million dollars worth of jewels from London's top jewellers in the 1980s.

But it's Gwyneth who is now set to bring the tale, based on Joan's autobiography I Am What I Am, to the big screen and don a Cockney accent.

And Joan - who spent just 18 months in prison for her crimes - is happy the Shakespeare in Love beauty won out, because Madonna "can't act".

She says, "They wanted Guy Ritchie to buy it, so Madonna could play me.

"Number one, she can't act. Two, she can't do a Cockney accent and Gwyneth can.

"She's really happy to be playing the part and she can't put the book down, apparently. I'm happy that she's doing it.

"I think she will do me justice. She's very lucky to be playing me."

i like her affected voices, they entertain me whichever one she picks. i think voicing a cartoon is a great idea for her acting ability. but that said, I'd much rather see her devoting time to music. i couldn't believe that she was on Jay Leno the day after the EP came out, and SHE DIDN'T EVEN MENTION IT!!! oh well...

oh, and i'm really pissed that she's doing a book signing in L.A. the day BEFORE I get there. ARRRggghhh!!! I'd give her my 2nd ticket to the Family Jamm.
