MY DURAN DURAN EXPERIENCE LAST NIGHT My back HURTS and my voice is OUT, but it was worth it.
VIEW TO A KILL I knew they would open with this or Friends of Mine. I was hoping they would play Friends of Mine later but they didn’t. It was still great! This song has one of my favorite keyboard parts! I LOVE the sound and to see/hear Nick do it live with that brooding pout was the perfect start to the show. PLANET EARTH You KNEW true Duranies were in the house because the crowd would sing parts that Simon sang on the Arena album. (That’s the live LP from the 84 tour.) So he sang “Some new romantic looking for the TV sound” and I heard the crowd say, “SWITCH IT OFF!” That was cool. Everybody jumped and sang along on the chorus “Bop bop-bop ba-bop bop ba-bop, this is Planet Earth…” HUNGRY LIKE THE WOLF People lost it. Out of control. COME UNDONE Absolutely beautiful, even with Andy playing. :tease2: Simon did lots of finger-licking during this one. WHAT HAPPENS TOMORROW  This is a really great NEW song with a great message. It sounds much better live than the radio version I heard. NEW RELIGION  Anyone with the Rio album, go play this song right now so you know what I’m talking about. This is a GREAT track to hear live. Perfect. Nick started it out with the organ intro. Beautiful. The groove was TIGHT. The baseline and guitar riff were flawless. Roger was keeping the beat and Simon sang, and I mean SANG that shit. Well, it’s kind of a fast speaking part. I LOVE THIS SONG!!! Andy and John were singing back up in perfect harmony. This is just one of the best songs they have and they pulled it off like they were still in their early 20s. UNION OF THE SNAKE OMFG. The only played this track 1 or 2 other times on this mini tour. The intro alone (Nick of course) is a real treat to hear live. I LOVE this keyboard part as well. Yes, I was playing air keys right along with Nick. I fucking LOVE doing that. I sing Simon’s part and play Nicks part in the air or on my thighs. MMM. Heaven. A guy came by and did the sax part. This is one of those great 80s songs with saxophone in it. SEXY. Once again the crowd mimicked the live version on the Arena cd and went “ouuuh” after “Telegram force and ready, I knew this was a big mistake.” BEAUTIFUL COLOURS A great new song that reminds me of something off the wedding album. I think. Simon played acoustic guitar on this. WAITING FOR THE NIGHT BOAT This song has the longest synth intro by Nick. There was a yellow light behind him throughout the intro. It’s great to hear his synth magic live. He’s so focused. This song is just magical. I adore it. ORDINARY WORLD :TOUCHED: Simon introduced this song as his way of dealing with the loss of a loved one. The end was blissful. He improvised some “Ahhhs” and “Oooohs” that created beautiful harmony over the music. SAVE A PRAYER :MUSHY: Ok, ANOTHER trademark Nick Rhodes keyboard part. I melt whenever I hear it. To experience it live is a true joy. So the repeating part is obviously on a loop, but the pitch-bend part. Man, it just tickles my tomato knowing that he’s working that lever just right and getting it every time. I couldn’t see well enough to see his hands, but that’s ok, I’ve seen it before on all the bootleg videos I have. “And you wanted to dance, so I asked you to dance, but fear is in your soul…” NOTORIOUS  Before this song Simon wanted to play word association with us. He shouted out a few words and then said “SEX” and most people said, “LOVE!” Then he said, no, the correct answer to Sex, is Yes, please. Then he said “No!” The crowd said “Yes” Then he said “No, No!” and they went into Notorious. Very cool. Great, funky guitar on this one, and Nick’s groovy keyboard part, baseline, EVERYTHING was in line. Towards the end of the song the bass drum started really pumping and I thought they were gonna go into Wild Boys, but they sang a verse of We Are Family. That was funny. GIRLS ON FILM GREAT. When I first got into Duran Duran, Roger was one of my favorite members. He has a small drum solo in this song and when he did that, I screamed like no tomorrow. I had to. CARELESS MEMORIES Rock on. This song is sooo much about the drums and guitar that it was awesome to know that the original drummer and guitarist were there, making it happen. WILD BOYS Yep, ANOTHER of my favorite keyboard parts. I LOVE THIS SOUND. I love the chords that Nick uses. I can’t believe I’ve never tried to learn these! I can play Notorious and Too Late Marlene… They did kind of an extended intro to this, very much like the remix. Simon said, “Stomp your feet, feet, feet…” --- ENCORE--- WHITE LINES Ok, how come I never really realized that Nick sang the “Rang dang dingity dang de dang” part? Get higher baby. They tore it up. RIO Of course EVERYONE went NUTS for this one. Personally, Rio and Hungry Like the Wolf are my least favorites of the singles because they are sooo overplayed. I enjoy them, but I wouldn’t be disappointed if I didn’t hear them at a show. But, it is cool to see everyone around me enjoying the songs. EVERYBODY was dancing. No Reflex. That’s my only complaint.

Sounds like you had a great time. I'm sad to hear that they're not doing 'The Chauffeur' this time around.
I've seen Duran several times and when I saw them in '87 on the 'Strange Behaviour' tour they did a stunningly gorgeous jazz version of that song. It was just about the best thing I've ever heard from them.

I LOVED that. I have a video of the show that was released, therefore professionally recorded. That intro with the guy on trumpet and Nick playing those keys...

I really hope I get the chance to see them the next time they tour the U.S. again. I will be saving all my pennies from this moment forward for those damn tickets. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

NWF said: IT'S NOT FAIR!!! YOU GET TO SEE THESE MOFOS WHILE I'M STILL JERKING OFF TO THE MUSIC!!! I still jerk off the the music... Seriously, it's kinda better to watch a video of the concert. I'm short, so I nearly got whiplash trying to get a good view of Nick. Stomping on the concrete and singing along, loosing my breath, getting dry mouth... I felt like I was gonna pass out a few times. It's cool to be there, but sometimes its more exciting to watch in the comfort of your living room. Then you can relax, and put on some candles... Probably the difference between setting the mood, having foreplay and making sweet love OR fucking your brains out in the back of a pickup truck.

I've been waiting all day for your review, Vina!!! Too cool! They didn't play White Lines, VTAK, or Union Of The Snake here, so I hope they do those on the next tour! I would have much rahter had WL that The Reflex, personally. I'm a little sick of that one (like you said about Rio and HLTW, overplayed)
I gotta go right now, but I'll be back with some more comments, You can bet your sweet bippy! Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

My comparisons to Vina's show with the Houston one:
VIEW TO A KILL I knew they would open with this or Friends of Mine. I was hoping they would play Friends of Mine later but they didn’t. It was still great! This song has one of my favorite keyboard parts! I LOVE the sound and to see/hear Nick do it live with that brooding pout was the perfect start to the show. They skipped this one at my show. Everybody jumped and sang along on the chorus “Bop bop-bop ba-bop bop ba-bop, this is Planet Earth…” The audience did the same thing in Houston. So glad the Duranies were in full effect for that number! HUNGRY LIKE THE WOLF People lost it. Out of control. COME UNDONE Absolutely beautiful, even with Andy playing. :tease2: Simon did lots of finger-licking during this one. WHAT HAPPENS TOMORROW  This is a really great NEW song with a great message. Just a footnote about the DVD. I've been hearing a lot of complaints about the content, and certainly there were a lot of videos left out but there is a plethora of hidden content on that thing.

DAMNIT! My voice is STILL fucked up! I sound like I have a frog in my throat. The thing is, my job requires me to talk on the phone A LOT on Mondays and Tuesdays so I haven't had a chance to give my voice a rest.
I really tried not to scream so much Sunday night, but I was singing along all night too. I was sooo dehydrated too. I thought I was gonna pass out.
