Janet Album Release Date

According to janet-love.com and MTV, Janet's new single is going to be released in Japan on January 16th and the album is supposed to hit the shelves in the US on February 24, 2004. No word yet on when the single is doing to drop in America.

I'm hoping this will be it, with no postponements. Apparently, the album is ready and she filmed the video already, last I heard.

woot!

CDWOW.com are already taking pre orders for her new album
they have it listed as 24th or 28th of Feb
If the single is realeased on the 16th of January then the single should hit radio at least next week right?
OMG NEW JANET NEXT WEEK???

That does sound a bit hasty. I haven't heard too much buzz on the radio about a new Janet single...and usually they promote her like crazy. The debut of "All For You" was a major event on Toronto radio.

Okay, turns out the album is only almost done. Here's what Jimmy had to say (from mtv.com):

While her brother Michael's world has been turned upside down by his recent arrest on allegations of child abuse, Janet Jackson is quietly going about the business of completing her next album, reports Jimmy "Jam' Harris.

"We're about 80 percent done, and we're planning on wrapping the project right before Christmas for an early 2004 release. You may hear a new single right at the beginning of the year,' reports the more vocal half of the multi-Grammy-winning team of Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis.

He says they haven't settled on a theme for the as-yet-untitled CD, but Janet has done "a lot of the writing and co-production' on the disc. "It will be a balance of a lot of different sides of Janet's personality -- there'll be the happy up-tempo songs, the very funky tunes, the very sensual, sexy ballads -- everything you would expect from her.' Harris adds that she's also collaborating with some other very hot producers, including "Rich Harrison, who did 'Crazy in Love' for Beyonce.'

It's been three years since Miss Janet's last album, but Harris says she's right on schedule. "That's pretty much been her thing. Between albums she likes to go live life, recharge her batteries and be able to share her experiences. It not only raises her artistic level, she's able to talk about things she's going through -- and other people can relate. That's one of the things that allows her to connect truly with the fans.'

So, looks like February 24th (which is, in fact, a Tuesday) could very well be the real release date!

It's about friggin' time!!!

I read a while ago that her new album is supposed to be more electronica oriented! I hope so!!!

Show ya love for the Thunderpuss remix of All For You! Could there be a better dance mix?

(aside from the "change it up mix"... but they are quite similar).

Oh god, AFY (Thunderpuss Club Mix) is the jam. I heard that at a dance club a few weeks ago and it's still packing the floors! It's sad that the Thunderpuss team broke up, they made some great remixes. "All For You" was a great single. I love the import maxi.

Also, I think the "Together Again" maxi-single had some of the best remixes I have ever heard in my life (DJ Premier's Just Tha Bass Mix, J&L's Deeper Mix, Tony Moran's 12" Mix, Jonathan Peters' Vocal Club Mix, Humphrey's Mix, and Ummah Jay Dee's Revenge Mix of GTIG). "Together Again" was so good I bought two separate copies of it just to get all 6 of the domestically released remixes. I rarely do that.

I miss the days of domestically released EPs & maxis. sad

I'm excited about this project. Long time coming.

The habitual 3- to 4-year Janet droughts kill me, but they're always worth it in the end. She keeps me hyped every time she releases something.

I hope we get some maxis out of this project! I know the digital music revolution is upon us, but can Janet bless us with some domestic maxis! Hell, I'd settle for an iTunes Music Store Exclusive.
