Your favorite Beatles song?

Piggybacking on Psychedelicide's thread (I didn't want to jack it): What is everyone's favorite?

ONLY ONE! NO "top three," "honorable mentions," etc. And tell us why, if you feel like it.

Mine's Rain.

Impossible to answer.

First thought answer would be "Fool on the Hill".

This is a very difficult challenge Lammastide, but way up there would be A Day In The Life. It was around the time I graduated and reflected the intensity and chaos of the times perfectly. It was unlike anything we had ever heard ~ trippy, beautiful, complex, dramatic and cryptic. It still sounds ahead of it's time to me.

These are great. I know this is tough, but let's hear more... and why you've picked them!

God - what a question!

I guess I would go with 'All You Need Is Love'. heart

It's just beautiful, simple and melodic. In a nutshell - perfect. music

Not 2 mention the fact what it stands 4 is emotional, and the very essence of being human... peace

I dunno - it just moves me. touched

Am SO looking 4ward 2 getting my hands on 'Let It Be...Naked' next month - it's gonna be the #1 Christmas album, it's gotta be. nod

Good thread Lammastide!
clapping

from the fantastic www.thebeatles.com website:
One of the most celebrated pop singles ever, this anthem for love was broadcast virtually as it was recorded - live - in 'Our World', the first global TV programme, seen by satellite over much of the planet on June 25 1967

John wrote 'All You Need Is Love' especially for Our World, following a brief by the BBC (who commissioned The Beatles as one of the programme's two UK representatives) to 'keep it simple so that viewers across the globe will understand'. 350 million people watched as the item closed the 'Artistic Excellence' section of the programme

Like most Beatles singles, 'All You Need Is Love' was a 1 not only in the UK and USA but in many other countries too, such as Argentina, Australia, Canada, Denmark, Ireland, Israel, New Zealand, Poland, Spain, Switzerland, West Germany.

before, i chose Across The Universe, then For No One... right now it's Hello Goodbye.

as for why... hard to say. it was, i think, a return to the simple pop-rock song after all of the psychedelia and experimentation. they took all of that expansion they'd done and applied it to a straight up great-feeling, catchy, wonderful, energetic song. LOVE IT.

And, yes, I did take some elements of that Stephen Jenkins' quote about The Rolling Stones on "I Love the 80's Strikes Back". But the fact is The Beatles f***ing RULE!!!
