Dolly Parton Just read the long Dolly Parton article from a month or so ago in Rolling Stone
I have never been a fan of her music, but I had no idea she was so prolific She is working on her seventy third album she writes songs constantly she created her "look" which she freely admits to being staged she created Dollywood, and a chain of reteraunts when her popularity ended in the 90's she signed to a small record label so she could continue to make albums she cared about without worrying about making hits I'm ashamed to say I always dismissed her as sort of a joke, I don't like country music, but I wonder if her being female has anything to do with why I have never heard anything about her in mainstream media besides jokes about her "assets", or as she put it her "shock and awe" Now I'm older than movies, Now I'm wiser than dreams, And I know who's there

Dolly's great...I too don't have much time for her music, but as a performer and business woman she is fab. SHe has a wicked sense of humour and I think she would probably be at my fantasy dinner party! The Hottest chip of them all - www.hotchip.co.uk - Get down with Prince

Dolly has been around forever and she is a very talented songwriter. I don't care for her voice, but she has style and can write a good song too.

As much as I don't follow country music, there's something grabs me about that chic. I can't seem to know why but I like her alot and I can't get enough of her when she's speaking in TV,,,very simple YET with a big personality!
Plus, she looks so beautiful after all these years! Off-topic, do you know that Prince produced 4 her the 60's RnB hit's cover song "Rescue Me" in 87 but she turned it down?

dolly has been releasing some bluegrass recordings for the past few years and, while i never cared for her music before, these cds are fantasic! 'the grass is blue', 'little sparrow', 'halos and horns' are great recordings. i have not heard her latest, 'for god and country', but i think it is also a bluegrass cd. i'll check with iwishyouheaven since he is a huge dolly parton fan.
really, though, even if you don't like dolly's previous work you should check out some of this more recent material.

I don't know much about theese forms of music, but I don't like that bluegrass and country are always lumped together because they sound so completely different to me [This message was edited Tue Nov 25 10:03:19 PST 2003 by paintsprayer] Now I'm older than movies, Now I'm wiser than dreams, And I know who's there
