CURTIS MAYFIELD
(3 June 1942 - 26 December 1999)

Curtis was a brilliant songwriter, vocalist, instrumentalist, producer and arranger, he had the aphoristic grace of a natural poet who was steeped in the rhetoric of the black church. His contribution to soul music has been immense, whatever the limitations of his disability, his voice, however, remained perfect, sensitive and unique.Curtis Mayfield didn't make it to the 21st century, but there's every reason to believe that his weird, transcendent music will survive to see the 22nd.

George Clinton's official website, GeorgeClinton.com, just had a major relaunch. It looks great! And it sounds good, too - due to two new background loops. New features include three video clips (George Clinton & Parliament / Funkadelic live at Fuji Fest, Japan, in summer 2002)...
Check it out...www.georgeclinton.com

Not sure if this has already been mentioned on another thread, but George was arrested over the weekend and charged with possession of cocaine!! Boy, Prince is gonna love this one. I bet we don't see old George around Paisley Park for a long time.

James Brown is The Godfather Of Soul, but he is the FATHER of funk. George is definitely the Godfather of Funk, with Bootsy, Maceo and Bernie as his mafia.
