But her just released "Tales Of A Librarian" is a wonderful Best Of and a good place to start.

Apparantly it's not a Best Of, it's "A Tori Amos Collection". wink

What's the difference between a "best of" and a "compilation"?

(Is it a question of having to work with yet another "quirky artist"?)

There's no difference. It's just what she chose to call it.

THAT IS SO AWESOME EWM!!! When you said there were only 30 people in front of you and the line was moving slow, I knew right away it was because she was talking to everyone. That is just how she is.

I'm surprised pictures wern't allowed. Probably a store thing. There are a kazillion pics over here of her meet n greets. http://www.oneway.com/ewf/frames.html She basically will meet fans who are waiting outside, before the show. Some of these pics just warm your heart, she looks so beautiful, she truly radiates love for all her fans. I fucking adore her.

I was surprised too cuz I saw some people with pictures they took with her in the past. I don't think it was a store thing cuz people were allowed to take pictures from the bottom of the steps, looking up at her. But of course it was impossible to get a good shot from down there. It seemed to be her managment that was stressing it.

That album is good and probably a descent start, but there's also tons of excellent stuff that's not on there.

It depends on what you are in the mood for, Tori's music varies from cd to cd. Since you have varied musical taste, I think you'll like them all! Scarlets Walk is the most commercially palatable in my opinion. Go here and sample tracks from each cd!

I'd say start with Little Earthquakes and work your way forward. She came fully formed, so if you're gonna like her, the debut should work.

I would actually go for Under The Pink. I think that may be a good starters CD. Or you can experiment the easiest way and download a few tracks from Zazaa to find out if you like her stuff. That way you can sample songs from each album to find out which one you may want the most.
