Hee hee hee, I love it when people come on and make direct comparisons between Andre and Prince...not so much because I agree, but more because it's bound to get a few folks bent outta shape (not talkin about you, JD...).

ehehehe, I wouldnt mind if U were. I just think there's better albums that sound like Prince than The Love Below. Check out Romanthony's R.Hide in Plain Site or Basement Jaxx's Rooty for example.

While I dig "The Love Below" it's not better than "Lovesexy", "The Symbol Album" "Gold" "Batman" "TRC" or even "Emancipation" if you ask me. Bringing Together Five Decades of R&B/Funk/Soul/Dance

I won't deny that there are good singles or jammin tracks on His newer albums, but nothing really rocks open to close. He hasn't had a solid album in a decade. Andre 3000 seems to use many of Prince's early techniques successfully, something Prince has forgot how to do.

Don't get me wrong though, I like The Love Below.

I don't think TLB is great open to finish either. It's a good album but hardly great. Bringing Together Five Decades of R&B/Funk/Soul/Dance

It doesn't even deserve to sit on the same shelf as Lovesexy, Prince at his weakest is still miles ahead of Outkast at their best. Prince may be the purple Yoda, but Wendy & Lisa and Eric Leeds also sit on the Jedi Council.

if it wasn't for Andre being black, aknowledging Prince as an influence, and being flamboyant in his style y'all wouldn't think this sounds like a prince album.
And so what if Prince isn't making albums like that anymore(he never really did, IMHO), apparently andre is so why don't you just enjoy it? One more thing: Andre is not a clone, rip-off, or "new" anything, he's andre. A guy who's unfluenced by a bunch of artists and does his own thing. There will never be another Prince, and no one is aiming to be a new Prince, get over it already ~KiKi

Well, it's definitely the most popular cliché to make the rounds at the Org recently. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

There will never be another Prince, and no one is aiming to be a new Prince, get over it already I think you got that right at least, "There will never be another Prince, no one is aiming to be the new Prince" not even Prince himself. What's depressing about it all is that Prince is still here, still creating music, but seems to have lost the path. It's refreshing that someone can still see past pop and put out something funky to the core. Prince hasn't done that since the early eighties. Frankly, the last decade has been a mess of artistic "discovery" echoing that of the "spontaneous bop" of the beat generation and it just doesn't expand any horizons. I guess the darkest hour is always before the dawn.

That Andre guy is a clown, not a musician. Stop comparing entertainers to musicians. Nothing gets me more heated. A couple of music lessons and acting like you play multiple instruments in a silly video don't compare to real musicianship. He has some clever things to say, (don't most rappers) but are you telling me he can SING?

purplereign. PURPLEREIGN. come on, now. "TLB" makes for a nice, interesting listen, but it ain't in the same league with virtually any album Prince/ has put out since SOTT. Mainly b/c Dre3K cannot sing. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016
