MARIAH

Well I know alot of people dont dig her, but I have always liked her. Besides the amazing vocal abilities, and the amazing looks, MARIAH has managed to keep me interested. The whole GLITTER fiasco, really wasnt. That whole big deal was so overrated, all that happend was the Movie bombed, (as did almost every other Music stars films), and the CD didnt sell what the others sold, but lets be honest, who in this Business can put out an album every year (which she has done) and have each of those albums sell millions (and 2 of them sell over 10 million stateside alone). I mean for 10 years 1990-2000 she did exactly that. Then came GLITTER, i think the problem with that was, everyone knew her new deal and how much she was getting, then the MOVIE was getting SHIT reviews so it all started the downhill ball rolling. But to be honest GLITTER is one of her stronger CDS. Which goes to prove that sales doesnt dictate Quality. Which I feel is what holds MARIAH back, she has YET to do that KILLER CD, all of her albums are aimed at having a radio hit or two but thats it. MARIAH is too concerned with being accepted wide range, which is expected because every artist who sells and then sees their sales decline have problems with dealing with that. I would LOVE to see MARIAH do a straight BALLAD record, but not cheesey RB produced ballads, and not cheesey CELINE ballads, something that goes back to her early GEMS like THE WIND and IF ITS OVER. I know she has that ALBUM inside of her, Im just hoping she LETS us hear it.

other than her voice becoming a little scratchy over the year (most likely because of the hi notes she has 2 pull so many times live and stuff) she is an amazing vocalist. Listen 2 how strong she pulles off "Lead The Way" "Reflections" the end of "Subtle Invitation".

Mariah used 2 sound older. Now she sounds younger. It started in the "Butterfly" album.

Glitter is my favorite Mariah CD because it had THEE BEST ballds n funk there
"Lead The Way"
"Reflections"
"All My Life"
"Didnt Mean 2 Turn U On (remake)" while superior 2 Cherelle's vocals, didnt surpass the 7 minutes of funk that she put in.
"Want You"
"Twister"
"Never 2 Far"
"Loverboy (original)"

it was and still is a very very underrated album. I love it. The movie did suck (as Mariah said so herself) but the soundtrack was good.

second would be ANOTHER underrated album which was Rainbow. The concept was nice, but everytime they do a documentary on her, they always skip that album. She had at least 6,7 videos for that album alone, it had very good promo.

Charmbracelet has its moments. It is in the same vein as "Butterfly" 2 me

lovebizzare

I agree.
"Glitter" really wasn't all that bad, her most enjoyable album all the way thru since "Daydream". I loved "Butterfly" upto "breakdown", but after that the rest of the album seemed to go down hill, and "rainbow", IMHO, was just a damn mess.
The reason "glitter" didn't sell was because it was a soundtrack to a horrible movie and it was released a not too long after 9/11 (maybe the week after), a lot of people seem to forget that.
I also agree that Mariah's problem seems to be that she's too concerned with having an album with radio-friendly songs on it, and I hate to say it, but having a rapper guest on a song isn't really working for her anymore, it may have been cool and different with "Butterfly", but by now it seems to wearing a little thin.
Also, for whatever reason, her voice seems to be getting thin and airy, and it may be cool for like two songs, but it gets annoying having to listen to a whole album like that.
That's why "Charmbraclet", to me, seems to be the bottom of the barrel (out of her albums) to me.
She's still good, but I think for her to have a truly successful album, she needs to ditch the airy voice (if she can) and guest rappers. I'm not saying she should go and relive her first three albums, but she should go back to that style, it seems to be what she's best at.
She's better than Jessica and (posibly) Christina, but to prove that she has to go back to what she's best at doing. Until then, unfortunately, she'll fall into that "has been"/"used to be a fan" category.
It also wouldn't kill her to put some freakin' clothes on either.

If I remember correctly, she tried to that with "music box" and was heavily critized. I think she needs to go back to doing stuff in the same vein as her self-titled album and "music box" (her best albums, IMHO).

She's an aries,,,most spontanious people in the world lol lol

There was a time when I couldn't go through the day without listening to her music. Now, I completely lost intrest on her.

I still love the sista but Chaka Khan said it best about Mariah "She compromised her art thats why she goes through alot of backlash and misconceptioning nowadays. But the truth is she could blow every girl out there in a row if she wanted but the thing is she DOESN'T need to, I think she's above that crap."

Its very ironic how her 1st 2 LPs are her maturest eva, the problem with her is she's predictable. She WORRY too much about image, sales, #1s and all that superficial bullshit. She doesn't need to do cheesy BALLADS or hip-hop joints, she just needs to deliever PURE music at this period of her life.

Something like "Subtle Invitation" or a Jazz record. Whateva,,all I know is she can do the louzy music that she's doing in her sleep with a fart and I don't think that they compliment her voice at all.

Make an operation to yo voice, think it through in a HOT while and then come back with TIGHT ass music.
