What new cd's have you bought recently??

Just trying to get a feel for what new cd's you've all bought recently and any suggestions you might offer as to what's hot and what's not.

The new Muse CD "Absolution". Damn good, but I like their last one "Origin of Symmetry" better. They are what Coldplay and Radiohead wish they sounded like. smile

The new Black Moon CD "Total Eclipse".

I bought the Beatles' "Let It Be...Naked" last week...as much as I like the original album, this new version doesn't do much for me. It's more of a collector's item than it is anything else, and quite frankly I really think Phil Spector's tinkering adds dignity and dimension to the music. This "new" version isn't BAD, but it's kinda "so what".

Within the last two weeks, I've bought the following:

OutKast (The Love Below/Speakerboxxx)
Sly and the Family Stone (Greatest Hits)
R.E.M. (Greatest Hits 1988-2003)
Michael Jackson (Number Ones)

Damn... that's a lot of greatest hits packages. I still want Bonnie Raitt's greatest hits and Dixie Chicks Live.

Outkast - Speakerboxxx/The Love Below (I love this record, especially Andre 3000's disc. I play it all the time before I go to sleep, wonderful bedtime music.)
Meshell Ndegeocello - Comfort Woman (What a cool album. I play this record constantly and I love the instrumentation).
Pink - Try This (Semi-decent album. Not as strong as her first two. My favorite songs are "Humble Neighborhoods" and "Catch Me While I'm Sleeping" -- she is singing on the latter track. That is my jam.)

Waiting for...
Kelis - Tasty (I've been waiting for her to release something in the states since 1999's Kaleidoscope, I hope it's worth the wait.)
Tori Fixx - Black.Out (I've heard samples of this album and it's crazy. I love Tori's music. Can't wait til this drops, my credit card will be swiped like whooooa.)
The new Backroom Matches record (Loved the "Sota!" EP, patiently waiting for a full-scale LP.)
Amel Larrieux - Bravebird (Oh god, I've been waiting for Amel since 2000, I'll wait patiently though, I know it'll be worth it.)
Janet Jackson's next LP (I will buy about 4 copies, guaranteed, LOL)

I'm basically hibernating until 2004.

Oh, I love her debut "Infinite Possibilites." I recently got back into it over the summer and it sounds so beautiful. My favorite tracks are "Make Me Whole," "Weather," "Get Up," "INI," "Even If" and "Infinite Possibilities." The CD is worth it. I can't wait for "Bravebird." I will faint when the new record comes out because I've been waiting for Amel to drop something for years.

Does anyone have the latest White Stripes (Elephant)? I'm not sure what to think of these two, but my husband really likes their songs he hears on the radio. Can anyone who has this cd tell me what they think of it?

Very good. Surprisingly diverse. I don't know why the weakest song (I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself) got released as a single... Well OK, I do - twocents (money!!)

Great album though.

Way too many to mention, here's a few:

REM- In Time: Best Of
Pink- Try This
No Doubt- Boom Box (awesome box set)
Britney Spears- In the Zone
Elvis Costello- North
Outkast- Speakerboxxx/Love Below
Sting- Sacred Love
Meshell Ndegeocello- Comfort Woman

All of these are quite good, particularly the Outkast, Elvis Costello, and No Doubt sets. There's a lot of stuff coming out right now. I've been meaning to pick up Sheryl Crow and the Chilli Peppers' hit sets (the ones with all the videos on the accompanying DVD)

So, how is Crooklyn #2? I basically developed my 3 kids' musical taste with the first one.

Meshell Ndegeocello - Comfort Woman
Branford Marsalis - Romances for Saxophone
Bowie - Reality
Lucinda Williams - Lucinda Williams (1988 reissue)
Blondie - Live

I'm liking all of these, except I find Me'shell's stuff somewhat repetitive - I hope it grows on me with a few more spins.

Lol, I wanted to see what you bought so I could get some suggestions of good music to buy.

I'm gonna go cd shoping really soon. I'm going to get the remastered Duran discs that just came out and probably Nelly Furtado. My boyfriend just got a Violent Femmes 3-cd set with live cuts and demos.

I just bought Tori Amos - Tales of a Librarian. thumbs up!
