A Question 4 The MJ fans - James Brown & Michael Jackson I was thinking 2day about the James Brown performance back in '83, and how he brings up Michael and Prince 2 perform.
Watching the video, it seems James & Michael are so chummy, hugging each other and whispering in each other's ear, they look like good friends ..But then I had a flashback of MC Hammer's "2 Legit 2 Quit" video. 4 those who haven't seen this video, James Brown guest stars as like a "godfather" who gives his blessing to Hammer as taking over the reigns so to speak, but tells Hammer: "Go 4 The Glove" (a reference to Michael Jackson's singular glove). The whole video is one big dig at Michael Jackson, as Hammer gets crowned by James as the best dancer over Michael. Which got me thinking, what happened to Michael & James relationship from the '83 show to Hammer's 2 legit 2 quit video? Was there a fallout? Can any fans of Michael or James shed any light on this one? I'm not sure if there was a fallout, but James Brown and MJ seemed to get along just fine on recent award shows. "It's better 2 B hated 4 what U R than 2 B loved 4 what U R not."

I think James got mad at Mike for using his private toilet, and is probably still pissed at Mike for the time he had to serve.

dunno, but there was recent footage of MJ at some awards show this year. In it JB was performing, and just as he finished his song(s), and JB was taking a bow, Michael walks on and puts a cape on James Brown as he was bowing, honouring him with praise, some award, or something. It was a total surprise to JB. They then hugged an whatever. Mike then did a short JB-esque dance performance, much to the audience's delight.
Anyway, after that performance, backstage JB basically tells Michael that he can call him anytime and that they can talk, and then MJ proceeds to tell him (or his assitant) that he needs his number so he can call him! So they aren't close enough to call each other on the phone it seems, even tho they both seem to have mutual respect. | |
