billboard stats sorry if this is considered old news but...

I think Mariah Carey is 1 of the most successful solo female artists ever with 15 or 16 No 1's on the US Billboard chart.

This is such a shame. I have to admit, my family contibuted to this nonsense. My aunt bought BOTH my twins the damn Brittney Spears album. I have to hear that irritating ass voice coming from two different damn rooms. I'm gonna go buy MJ's album today. I've gotta show my boy some support. **************************************************

The Jackson 5 were the 1st group ever 2 have 4 No 1 single's on the US Billboard chart. As for Britney well its thanx 2 record company marketing that she has 4 No 1 albums , I mean does any1 think she can actually sing?

Britney many have topped Donna's record, but her albums aren't double-albums,which makes Donna's success all the more impressive, imo.

Why are you so pro-britney, I'm not one to just come out of nowhere and diss the girl, but donna's success in that is better than britney's. Sure, Britney's is impressive, more power to her but donna's is more impressive because back in the day double albums were generally more expensive(of course) and not the norm To have THREE double albums debut at #1 was/is impressive No one's trying to deny Britney's success, but donna's is more impressive STILL ~KiKi

Actually, "Live and More", the full double album, doesn't fit on a full CD! They couldn't put all the live tracks and the "McArthur Park Suite" on there, so they replaced "McA P" with the really heard (in America) "The Deep". Little known fact. I'm not trying to deny Britney's success either but I kept seeing that stat on Donna everywhere (with her new book out) and it must not be true. But then again, Britney's albums (I think) are kind of short and probably don't go over 70 mins like Donna's did (probably barely make 50 min.)

The chances of Live And More being released as a Universal Chronicles Deluxe Edition are unfortunately very low, primarily since the Bad Girls Deluxe Edition has only sold about 7000 copies in the US...and that was her CLASSIC album! I'm extremely disappointed about that...Donna doesn't get enough respect. But the good news is that her most recent greatest hits set The Journey has sold over 5000, so Sony is pondering a brand new album of all-new material, which would be wonderful.

Another thing one should consider- 2 of those Donna Summer double sets are basically hits compilations (a greatest hits and a live set). Those tend to sell well for big artists. It's not like she had three double albums in a row at #1 that were full of original material.

Worked her ass off for it? All she can do is dance moderately well (and even that's lifted from Janet). Jive's marketing machine produced this success, NOT her. That's implying she can sing, produce, and/or write (she "wrote" those tracks on her latest disc, I'm sure), none of which she can do with any competence.

That chic can't sing for shit. I'll give her credit, she can dance. But her singing voice kills me. And from what I am forced to hear from my kids playing it, the CD sounds like shit. The only decent song is the one that she has with Madonna. Anything else and I'm yelling "turn that mess down." I doubt that Brittny would have a career if she was ugly. She has one of the worst singing voices that I can think of. In fact, I wouldn't even call it singing. It's more like a whisper or some shit. **************************************************

Jive's marketing machine produced this success, NOT her. That's implying she can sing, produce, and/or write (she "wrote" those tracks on her latest disc, I'm sure), none of which she can do with any competence. oh, you're right. touring, recording, publicity appearances, making videos, travelling all over the country (before she was famous) and establishing a huge audience is easy as pie. no work whatsoever. so why aren't we all as successful as she? you say the marketing machine made her famous...is that different than ANY OTHER superstar? sure, she had a record company behind her. she still had to do the work to keep the fame. you make it sound like because she has good pr on her projects, she just sits on her ass eating bon bons all day and collects a check. she has had four albums, four tours, tons of videos, tons of press appearances, a television career before all of that, touring of malls before she became really famous, travelled the country to get involved in competitions, and lots more. but you're right...that's all very easy. she hasn't worked hard at all. Oh, she's worked. But it wasn't on the records. That's the point

Yes of course Britney worked hard 2 b a success. But it is the record company, Jive, who helped make her a 'superstar'. I'm not dissing Britney @ all, I'm just sayin' that the record marketing has helped her career alot. Although I don't think she is a very good singer @ all and is marketed on her image, as r other female singers (y'all know who!) Jive must have made millions of dollars from Britney's music/videos etc. so she does deserve some credit 4 her hard work I agree , however, there r more talented singers who r not marketed on their looks who r much better singers than Britney.
