James Brown - Funkiest Tracks??? I know this has probably been asked a dozen times b4, but what r people's fav funky James Brown tracks???
I would consider: 1. Give it up or turn it loose. 2. Get up, get into it and get invovled 3. Make it good to yourself 4. Super bad 'Somewhere in Uptown'

What a question! Can you please name me one track by JB from between 1962 and 1978 that is NOT funky? That would be more reasonable. Even "These foolish things" and "Man's Man's World" got some funk to them the way JB sings them. "Peace and Benz -- The future, made in Germany"

When I think of the funkiest JB (of the tons of funk songs he did) this is the one that comes in my mind.. it's unbelievable! I would like also to add to the mentioned songs in this thread "Escapism" (full-lenght version), IMO one of the highest point of the funk history.

THE GRUNT.
hmph! He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would fully suffice. - Albert Einstein

Its a masterpiece. Back in 1974, when it came out, DJs were required playing it 4-5 times every night. A very close friend of mine sings on it, and I get goosebumps every time she talks to me. U R correct SP. With James, its hard 2 pick & choose his GREATS, just like its impossible with prince, and there R STILL songs I havent heard from both great artists, as I play my newer fave's, & run out of time 2 hear the rest. Just like I shyed away from EMANCIPATION after listening 2 it haphazardly "once". I recently played it & realized how truly magnificent all the songs R. This amazes me, as the tracks are very rarely discussed on the org. I must start a thread on the trio SOON... Its not often I'll skip a track with james either. They ALL R "the funkiest! May the BELLS ring 4 U even when ur not in love.
